Ok Here's the problem. I've been without my bike for about 5 wks. During the rally(7-18-10) it started leaking tranny, primary fluid. So I made sure everything was good and rode the rest of the wk. Took to shop on 7-23-10 for tranny, primary leak, and install 08 ball and ramp. Picked up on 8-6-10(Fri) road home. On Sunday morning after riding Sat found primary fluid still leaking. And With the new ball & ramp was Clutch was slipping in 4th gear. Clutch plates and been warped for a while (almost 2 yr) when you put in 1st pulls a little, but wasn't going to fix until I had the $ to put in cam and new clutch. Anyway took back to shop on 8-10-10, had new bandit clutch installed, had Dave Mackie 595 cam installed (Dave Mackie Engineering: High-Performance Cam Shafts). Well went to pick up yesterday 10 a.m. When I got their rode down the rode. WOW pulls like a train Awesome, but slipped in 4,5,6 gear. They adjust the clutch on the cable, nothing, adjust a few more time and it started pulling when I put it in 1st. That fucken shit wasn't going to cut it for me. Went in talked to shop owner(who is a bigdog mech. himself) he says the 08 ball and ramp is prolly the problem because it never slipped before we put it in. So I told he take the fucker out, ride it himself down the rode like a striped ass ape and call me when it is fucken ready. :bang:   :rant2:

Anyway just getting this off my chest so I can breath again without wanting to kill somebody.

Sorry to hear thatByrddogg, but the thing that gets me is why were they adjusting the cable for the slippage issue. Makes no sense to me...just saying...

FREEDOM!!!
In my experience if it's slipping and the clutch lever is adjusted for a little free play then it's the spring tension on the pressure plate assuming new plates in good condition. I'm not sure exactly what you have but on older Harley clutches spring tension is adjusted by the tension on the pressure plate springs through tightening each adjuster nut. The other adjustment that affects the pressure plate is the clutch hub adjuster screw where your ramp & ball either directly or through a rod (Harley 4 spds) pushes on the pressure plate to release spring tension. If it is adjusted in too far it preloads the pressure plate causeing it to be partially disengaged and slipping. I hope this info helps your troubleshooting.
The only way the clutch cable is a factor in a slipping clutch is if it is adjusted too tight with no free play so it is like you are partially pulling in the clutch when your not touching it.
Good luck!

Hahaha!!! I tried to describe as best I can for non-mechanics but maybe I need to get a manual and scan in the appropriate exploded view diagram and refer to part "A" goes into part "B" as shown on page "X". Might make more sense!!! but thanks anyway! I am a bit amazed and dissapointed on these stories where folks bring there bikes to proffesional motorcycle shops and they don't have a clue how to really troubleshoot an electrical or mechanical problem. Just change a part out and hope it solves the problem!! then repeat untill customer runs out of patience and money!!!:lol::D

OK here's what I found out Saturday, when I took some new stuff (chrome wheels, chrome belt pulley, chrome speedo housing, pipes) to the shop to be put on my bike.

#1- The bearing in the Carrier(#31) was shot, couldn't order just the bearing so ordered new one.

#2- Part # 21 (don't know name of) the teeth on the inside where the shaft goes thru were shot too. Teeth on the shaft were good tho They said was prolly from where the hub nut came loose. Ordered new one of them too.

Hopefully this should be it and be ready this week :whoop: But who knows :bang:

Is their any other way to get a Inner Clutch Hub than from Bigdog. I know they aren't the ones who make them?

Any info would be greatly appreciated :2thumbs:

Sorry about the shit luck your having.

As for the customer service part, thats a fucking Joke as far as BD is concerned. Your going to see this alot from them I'm afraid, I've seen this issue before with another company.

More bad news. Went over their today to pick up. Had everything put on wheels,pipes.. Rode down the road about 3 miles at around 65 ran fine. Turned around and fired it up and smoked the clutch again:angry: and to beat that when i got back was leaking primary fluid in the same place as before:bang: guess we are going to order the Bandit Cluch (Bandit Machine Works: Clutches and Belt Drives and Related Parts, Tools, and Accessories for Harley Davidson Motorcycles) Don't really know what else to do. 2 clutches 2 rides down the rode:confused: Everything was new in thier too, the Barnett Plates,New Carrier,Inner Clutch Hub from Baker. :cursin: As far as the leaking who the fuck knows....

I was told by my BDM tech that if you put the easy pull ball and ramp assembly in without putting the easy pull clutch pack in as well, that it will not work right and will slip.

As far as the leak? no idea...

No telling about the primary leak but I have to put a new drain plug in my primary everytime I change the oil in there or it leaks. So when I go get oil I get a new primary drain plug. No problems with leaking since I started doing that. Just putting a new o ring wouldn't do it.

OK Finally got everything working for now

New Chrome wheels and belt pully(got off e-bay off of a 09 K-9)
Pipes-Martin Bros. Daisycutters (off e-bay)
Chrome Speedo Housing and face(got off e-bay)
Mainshaft-1
Inner Clutch Hub-2 (only charged for 1)
Clutches-3 (2-Barnett plates, 1-Bandit-only one I paid for)
BD Carrier Bearing-1
595 Dave Makie CAM
Clutch cable
And a bunch of little shit seals, gaskets,

This helped them also: http://www.bigdogbiker.com/forums/technical/23686-clutch-slippage-solution-found.html

On the primary oil leak: Mainshaft was warped from Hub nut coming loose(Bakers says if Hub Nut comes loose replace because it could be warped) allowing p.oil to come though the shaft when heavily accelerated

The Inner Hub's(one originally on their plus 1 new one.) were messing up due to the shaft being warped and screwing up the teeth.

Anyway rode home on Oct 23, took it easy(got to break in clutch). Rode on 27th around 80 miles and 28th around 120 miles everything seems to be ok for now :whoop:

Will get some new pics of bike w/ new stuff when I get a chance. Just glad to have back home!!!!
