I am using a computer w/o spell check available so I appoligize for any errors in advance. For those of you who have had cylinder and head work done, I have some questions.
My mechanic informed me of some disturbing findings while working on my bike.
There is a 0.005" lip on the bottom of the cylinders that didn't allow them to seat properly on the case, and actually caused wear marks on the case itself. My mechanic was surprised that the bike never leaked oil due to this.
The back cylinder was 0.005" taller then the front.
The bottom piston rings were worn completely smooth while the top kept its tapered edge.
My intake valves were 2.000" stock, going against Big Dog specs.
The push rods had worn the rocker arms almost through the oiler hole on the intake side.
Have any of you experienced any of this? He is going to take care of the issues, but I am still surprised.
