05 Chopper Vent Tube...

well as I suspected the vent tube inside my gas tank the spot weld broke loose making an awful rattle. :bang:
The rattle begins at about 3k rpm and it's awful.

I'm able to push the vent tube back into the hole it broke free from which on my 05 Chopper is at 12 o'clock unlike others being at 6 o'clock.

Also, if I use stainless steel safety wire approx. .030" dia. and 6" long I can loop it two times around where it broke loose from inside the filler hole than wrap it around the vent tube now back in position several times.

After this is done using long needle nose pliers I can twist the two ends tightly together and snip off the excess stainless safety wire making a very snug attachment inside the tank.

Don't see it coming or breaking loose but stranger things have happened.

This for now will save me from taking the tank off and going thru the process that "Juice" elaborately explained in his "How To" thread.
Thank you Juice

ps/ wished my camera didn't get wet...don't ask :(

I think ray put a screw in the hole & tightened it into the lose vent tube.. but your idea may work to..

I used safety wire when the vent tube came lose on my AIH chopper.

Seems like all the tanks came from the same place and all of them had the same issues. :bang:
