I has heard and thought I read on the other site that the 07 cam was a .521 and had the behives. But I have no confirmation

That might be true for the EFI bikes, but the carb bikes have the 569 cam with dual springs (red stripe).

Moral of the story=
Spend 10 minutes and pull off your rocker cover and see what springs you have. If you are not sure about your springs don't chance it by a valve piston collision. Simple as that.

The 640 springs are meant to go with the .600 cam so, they're the right thing to use; however, the word is that you can get by just fine without them too so,

Ref email from Dan Weins (BDM) dtd 16 October.

.546 cam and single wound springs (and non-roller rockers).

Confirmed via TELCON S&S - I provided my engine number and they pulled the specs. Told me that this was BDM version 117 S&S, specs effective for engines assembled after January 2007.

I did have S&S roller rockers installed, but have no cam plans until after the bike comes home in April (after 2500 service) - authorized service will forever be in my rear view mirror at that time.

But I have to concur with the advice to pull the rocker boxes and confirm what you really have before spending the bucks...

The 05's MUST have the 640 springs if your going to change cams..they have smaller springs and won't take the 600 cam. Some if not most of the 06-07's have the 640 springs installed..and yes you can identify them by the orange/red stripe on them. If you've already got the 640 springs your good to go with a 600 cam. The EFI bikes I'm not sure about the springs..but it looks like you've got clarification on that already.
If your going to do any head work, I definately suggest shaving the cylinders to the original S&S height instead of shaving the heads. I have a guy here locally that has done LOTS of the performance heads/cyl jobs and has it together on how to get the most out of them. If anyone's interested I can hook you up with him or find out the exact info...he's really knowledgeable and is considered the guru of motors in this area..and he's reasonable...He has a Stage 3 head package that rocks and with shaving the cylinders you bump the power up considerably.
Ask Jim on here about it..thats who did his motor and he's really pleased with the horsepower gain...

Here is the 07 Bulldog EFI spring setup in my bike. Took the cover off this afternoon to look. Looks like I will have to do springs and all when I change out the cam. Not even a roller rocker.

Definitely would help with oiling but the main reason is weight reduction of the retainer. Gas you had the dealer put in your .640 springs. I take it you were just making sure they did so.

Yeah they were put in when I got it... so yes just checking and trying to also post pics of the said red stripe.

If you are going to use a .600 cam, get the springs that are rated up to .640

Hey I was reading your quote and was wondering if you noticed a difference when you performed the cam swap? Did it make much more power? I am getting ready to do this with my 06 Mastiff and wasnt sure if I should go ahead and have the shop deck the cyl. If I can I would like to wait for the decking etc. a little while, but I do not want any mech. problems and want to see a difference with the 600 cam.

You're going to have to pull the top cover off and take a look at what you have. There have been alot of changes along the way. If you have roller rockers and red stripe springs you should be good to go. Mine came this way from the factory and I have no issues with the 600 cam.

The .600 cam over the stock cam is a WORLD of difference! Almost night and day, closer to morning and evening, but it really wakes the bike up!!
