I"ll play devils advocate since I just sold my bike. When I bought my bike, it was my "Dream" bike. I knew buying it NEW in 2006 was a major financial mistake. This was my 3rd Big Dog. I knew I'd take it in the shorts the day I sold it and didn't care. I don't care today that the money is in my checking account. Today, I just felt there was a more functional place for the money. The bike doesn't fit into my lifestyle anymore. I want a bagger that allows me to travel as far as the wind will take me eventually. The traffic here(texting teenagers) and no decent intermediate destination forced my hand. I also have a preferred short length toy. I've been selling Real Estate for 10 years. You will sell nearly everything you ever purchase. It really comes down to are you prepared to take the hit? I knew the day I wired the money that I was going to lose my ass. I'm a analytical mother fucker, it cost me over $2 a mile to ride this bike and I paid cash. I also rode it nearly 10,000 miles. NO REGRETS....

There are currently 2 or 3 different theads going on right now about pretty much the same thing. In one of them the guy wonders how big a hit he's going to take... He goes on to say that recently 30 more employees were let go. I posted asking more info on where he got this figure. No response yet on that one.
My point is, the last number of employees left on the payroll that I heard was 33. So who does that leave left? It's an awful big building for 3 people. I don't know what to believe.

You know....even just sitting down and cracking a couple of beers, some good zep music in the background and just looking at the bike makes me feel good. Do not have to be riding to make me feel money well spent.Ride hard ..No regrets!:cheers::cheers:

Amen brother! There's even immense pride when the dog is just sittin' still taking a nap in the garage!!! :2thumbs:

I have never had chairs in my garage...until I bought the dog!

I believe you mis-understood his post, he said, they laid off "down to" 30 employees.

At a place of that size, thats like saying a McDonalds is now operating with 1 person at any particular resturant. Basically NO ONE there.

Talked to a guy today at a bike show on base. He bought a new 2009 Ironhorse for under 15k! Said they decided to liquidate all inventory so he bought it for a heck of a deal. I sure hope Bigdog keeps it together!!! I love mine!!!!!!!!!!

I was on the phone to BDM just over a week ago and mentioned I was thinking about flying out and possibly adding a K-9 to the pound. They told me they have no inventory and wait until they have an order (believe he said 50 bikes or so) and build them all at once.

Very disappointing to hear of their hard times. Glad I don't need BDM parts right now. Seems most are on back order...:eek:

My dealer ( BD of Tampa) said today BD informed him , they are going to build the new Chopper and will be available soon

I love my 2009 Big Dog K-9!!! I have owned a number of bikes over the years and none of them have been as fun of a ride as my K-9. I hope Sheldon and his team get things turned around and keep Big Dog rolling far into the future.
