Exhaust hott ..... Ouch!

I just got my bike and I'm not quite used to it yet. The exhaust is positioned to where all 3 times I rode it burned my jeans and left burn mark. I'm doing my best to keep my leg away but it still seems to happe... Is there anything I can do?

Like me buy a new pair of jeans every week. You might try some shields that are available in all the parts catalogs but you are going to burn up your pants no matter.

ride naked until you develop a callous on your leg, good on pants, not so sure about spectators.........:roll:

I saw some bike that have the pipes wrapped with that cloth stuff it looks pretty cool, but I don't know if that will fit the style of my bike.

You could always ride European with both legs on the primary side. Just a little scary making hard right turns.

Just do like I did last summer, ride with shorts on just around the block:choppersmiley: and barely have your leg graze the pipes till you hear a sizzle. Sure in the hell cured my problem of touching the pipes,and enhanced my vocabulary of foul language :cursin:to a level that would make the 'DiceMan" embarrassed.

It took me gettn burned 4x in shorts before I learned where my pipes were and where my legs don't go !

we all have gotten burned, its all apart of gettn used to right side drive :D

Seriously though, you could get your pipes ceramic coated and wrap the upper with heat wrap.
What kind of pipes do you have now? Do you ave heat shields already?

But if your worried about style then you better just get used to it. Buy heat proof jeans.

there is such a thing as kevlar jeans that would probably help about the heat , to an extent. just sayin'

What about tying a cotton bandana around that part of your leg? You know if it's rolled/folded enough it would have to get thru those layers first.

I didn't have that problem with the pipes,but with the rear rocker box, sitting a lights wondering why my inner thigh was getting very hot.:eek: So just try to put your leg out futher. That works for me:cheers:

I thought they were Vance Hines but they don't have a stamp. I'm new to this what's a heat sheild?? Can you wrap chrome pipe?

Heat shields will burn your leg too,they just shield the heat a little better,i got burned once that was the last time.I just ride like i used to ride my Big Wheel....:lol:
