I felt this was worth my time to share and worth your time to read so enjoy!
I started a thread a few days ago inquiring about the trail on my 05 Ridgeback. I received some good responses but none that gave me a definitive answer and I was mostly interested in finding out what BD says the trial should be straight off the production line.
On a mission to quench my insatiable thirst for knowledge on the workings of my front end, I decided to send a message to the BD customer service dept using the BD website. To my surprise I received an answer back from Anne Dixon “On behalf of Customer Service” 1st thing this morning. And by the way, when I say “on Behalf of Customer Service”, her email address read exactly like this: mailto:Anne.Dixon@bigdogmotorcycles.com] On Behalf Of Customer Service Dept (I can’t make this crap up). Anyway here is how the email conversation went. You may find this entertaining…
My Original question: Can you please tell me what the trail is on a standard 05 Ridgeback with
no mods done to it?
Anne Dixon’s Response: 37 deg frame rake, 3 deg in the trees
My Response: Thanks for your reply but you provided me with the overall rake of the front end
of my bike. I was looking for the trail – not the rake.
Anne Dixon’s Response: I do not have that info
My Response: Thanks for your candor, is there someone there who you can ask that may
have the answer? It would be very helpful to me. Thanks in advance
Anne Dixon’s Response: No
Now, some of you may know who Anne is and she is probably a sweet lady. I don’t know her and I am certainly not sharing this with all of you to make Anne sound like an idiot but is this what we can expect when we have questions or need information on the machines that we purchased for tens of thousands of dollars? I mean, If Anne isn’t qualified to answer my questions then why is she trying? Look, I don’t expect everyone who works there to know the trail for all of the bikes that ever rolled of the factory floor but maybe, just maybe someone knows someone that has access to a freakin book or a computer or a damn post it note that has the specs on ALL of our bikes in it.
So I have not responded because I am a little unsure of what kind of response this really deserves. I mean, I thought I was pretty clear in my original question on what I was looking for and the thought that there isn’t one person left at BD that she could ask that might know what trail is, is sad.
Am I off base here?
