Rotor Pins

Does anyone know of anywhere we can get the rotor pins for our bikes besides through BDM. They want $14.95 apiece for the pins times 10 for each wheel. That is $149.50 a wheel for 10 pins thats rediculous.

T,
I'm really not sure, it's never come up before.
But that does seem pretty steep.
check with PM (Performance Machine) and see if they carry them.
Remember Diameter and Depth do matter! At least that what "she" said too! :D

dead
I was gona say any PMI dealer should be able to get them.:2thumbs:

Keep in mind that in 05 BDM went to Brembo rotors to compliment the PM calipers I believe. I would guess that BDM makes the carriers though (to match the wheels).

should be from the underside of the shoulder/head to the inside edge of the slot for the circlip or maybe a few thousandths more than the thickness of the rotor/ mounting hub.

Toss the floating rotors and get a set of DNA polished stainless for $100. They look better anyway. I'd never pay that much for the pins that's a trainwreck.

I agree with Moe! I really don't understand the WHY's of floating rotors. I have about 5000 miles on these Chrome rotors. No warp, still fabulous chrome finish (except of course where pads rub - but even then they don't look as off-colored as floatings).

And I bought them from this ebay seller and I think these are the same ones as mine ($69 for the pair "buy it now):

I looked up the DNA'S and they have floating rotors also and the pins look like ours do. I wandering if they will fit.

Speaking of pin wear and floating rotors, what is the reasoning behind floating rotors (heat dissipation and less chance of warp?) and how bad can parts (pin, rotor, inner part) be worn before they need replaced and do they ever fail/break? If I missed a thread on all this sorry and please direct me.

Thanks, Shovelcowboy

Floating rotors can move laterally, this keeps the rotor centered in the caliper all the time and maximizes your pad to rotor contact. They also don't "pulse" as the rotor wears and starts to warp. On a chopper, you're not likely to even notice the difference. On our long, raked front ends you will probably lock it up before you reach maximum braking power, and we all know how easy it is to lock the rear. BTW Harley makes semi floating rotors that don't use the pin or only have one pin. If you HAVE to have floating this might be a good way to go, but they are like $130 per rotor.

The Brembo system on my 09 Ultra has the semi floaters. However, then they wouldn't be polished or match the rims style.
