Crashed Monday, how to deal with the adjuster?

Hey Moe,

I'm glad you came through you wreck and survived to see another day and I hope you have a speedy recovery. I appears you are looking for advice on how to deal with either
your or the person who was at fault insurance company. Don't make the same mistake that I did by not contacting someone who is a expert in dealing with these matters and then coming out on the short end of the stick. I am going to give you a name and number for you to contact, this man is a straight shooter and will advise you on what to do. I don't think he can represent you in NJ but I'm sure he can recommend someone if needed. Remember we can all give advice but I believe dealing with insurance companies and any medical bills you might have you need to speak with the experts. Call Tom McGrath's Motorcycle Law Group at this
number : 1-800-321-8968 if Tom is available ask to speak to him and tell him that Larry Wheeler told you to call him. Let him tell you what your right's are and how to handle this...

So now you know to let your insurance company know don't feel bad about getting your moneys worth he messed up not you. Get you bike fixed and then some. The only money you will be taking is from the insurance company any way. I hope he doesn't have Progressive they are good if they are yours but, not good if the other person has them. Some one hit my buddy and they said it was 20% his fault. so he had to pay his decutible. Good luck.

let your insurance co deal with this, they work for you that's what you pay them for.depending how bad your bike is they may total it. if you want to keep it just buy it back and do the repairs yourself but it will now have a salvage title. they're probably gonna pay you the value of a 04 plus some extra money for you're accessories.

glad you are OK, the one accident I had years ago, I ran thru my insurance company - I had to pay the deductible, but when my insurance company got it back from his company they sent me a check. I also ended up suing him because his insurance company would not paid for everything I wanted ( I won in court but it was a pain), make sure your frame is OK - not bent or cracked anywhere mine was but did not find until later.

Ok... I did a great claim on mine the other year.

I will try to cover it all but if you want you can call me... just shoot me a pm

  1. Put in the claim
  2. Take lots of pics
  3. Inform ins comp that you are doing your own repairs
  4. Get a written estimate with aftermarket parts adjusted and with proper times to R&R everything. (I could show you my estimate and other files if you want)
  5. File the writen est with ins comp
  6. An adjustor will come to see the bike at your house. He is really just there to verify the damage and the parts. They dont have a system BDM bikes like they do for cars and most other bikes. Further they simply dont see enough or know enough about these bikes.
  7. If the adjustor tries to do anything "slick" call your ins comp. Mine tried to lower the shop rate (which they quit doing 8yrs ago). Remember the adjustor is a 3rd party company that gets their contracts by saving the ins co money so they will try to screw you to make them look better.
  8. Get your check and do your repairs
  9. ENJOY!!

This is good advice from someone who's been down the same road, but I would also contact a lawyer who niche is bike accidents and get a free consultation in so you know where you stand and if you start getting the run around or start having medical issues later due to someone else's fault. Trust me I've learned from not finding out what my rights where before it was too late.....

First, glad you are ok. Let your insurance handle the problem, that's what you are giving them money for. Let them deal with the kids insurance.

Not usually. But I was honest with them on the costs of what was damaged. For example, I quoted them a price of a V&H BR pipes even though I had no intention of putting those back on. That is what was on, so that was the quote.

That is true if there are any issues of medical.

If there are no medical problems then just do like Ruff said.
