Here you go. Had one starter go out back in the first year. On the second one 3.5 years later, still going strong.
Had a speedometer go out due to MY Fault. Broke a couple of Tach Boards, due to MY FAULT. Did have one PCB on right hand control replaced back in first year, still going strong on the replacement.
Had to replace a EHC due to MY FAULT (broke a pin by not paying attention after I reassembled it following maintenace with the di-electric grease).
Had the head job done due to the guides were out of tolerence but probably could have went years.
That all said, the bike has never left me stranded and I have road it many time on 500 plus rides (that is 500 plus in one day not one year).
Now I have a basically stock bastard year, no real mods other than the cam (a S&S 600) and exhaust.
Oh I did have a battery go out after 3 years.
I am glad that you enjoy your bike and if it is not due to BD and your own hands, kudos.
Now let me ask what have you done to your bike BTW. Seen one of your limited post about getting it built up and trying to get 130hp +. Let us know what you have done so that we may learn.
Is there some issues with BD, yes, but no more, no less than most American V-Twins. Much less than some of the old HD.
Does the issues on here and some complaints provide the true representation of BDM. Not sure but like most forums, more likely to find people posting with their problems, but I like to think that even with great amount of people on here and some of the problems, our issues is still a very small poriton of the over 25k bikes built by BD and folks that come on here are more likely to post including ther problems knowing that they may get help. The question is how many in a precentage does this represent of the many thousand of BD out there, that may have no problem?
Also many times, problems that are posted go back to lack of maintenace, bad dealers, mods that may not too well thought out, etc.
People do have problems and some have been nightmare, but that does not mean that overall the BD are junk and if people say otherwise, does not change it.
It almost seems that if the MAJORIY of folks say they have no real issues, that you want to say we are full of shit, that we are kiss ass and BDM clones. Maybe it is just the truth of the majority.
For the few that have had real issues, feel for you, but keep the faith, work with the many good people on here and we will help you out, complaining and trying to lable all BD as junk does not get you anywhere on here.
Off my soap box, got to get to bed soon so I can ride my BD of the bastard year along with some other great forum members in the morning. If anyone has a problem, we will getting her going, just like all bikers would do be a Yuppie Biker, Tattto Biker, newbe biker, or a hrad core Outlaw biker.
