I call bullshit on this one !!!! :job: :job: :job:
You worked at a factory that gave you a $5,000 Rolex after 10 years?

Does that sound like BS to anyone but me?

Dennis
I've verified this through the company. Sheldon did give these out. He had the faces modified with the BDM emblem on them then Rolex didn't like this so after the first 15 BD ended up just enscribing the back of the case.
Rolex keeps tight control on the watch faces for whatever reason.

I work for BD and I can verify that there were in fact 15 Rolex's given out to the first 10 year employee's that do have the logo on the face of them. Now they have it on the back of the case. We get a watch after 5 years that has the logo on the face but it's not a Rolex and then at 10 years we get the Rolex. I'm not sure what the 15 year award is as I haven't been there for the presentations the last few months.

Since you were posting at the same time I was Dennis, how would a gross $75,000 adjustment in the profit margin spread out over 10 years help anybody? BD might have sold a few more bikes (3 or 4) but those that have been laid off would still not have a position today. 25,000 bikes in the last 15 years divided by $75,000 is $3.00 per bike. I don't know but I'll bet there isn't a single non-owner who was trying to by one that didn't because of $3.00. If you want to look at it another way, pay the employee over a 10 year span the equivilant of the watch - $5,000 before tax's would be $3,500 and over ten years would be $350 a year or about $13.00 per pay period.

So a 3rd party was modifying Rolex's? No wonder Rolex had problem with it!

When I bought my wifes Rolex several years ago I learned how tightly controlled the company goes to retain the watches the way they leave the country. My wife got a one of a kind "Champagne" style face on her watch and then I had the back of the case inscribed.

I would like to have this watch if I could afford it. :D

So keeping them "proprietary" is partly what helps them maintain their value...

Sounds kinda familiar, eh? :D

Kind of like the idea of BDM giving out long term employees that help build the company something unique and sicnificance to recongnize such. A Rolex would be very nice. Know that it does not help his family with a layoff, but still saying if the economy had not taken a dump and the adjustments needed, would be nice to get something of real value for the dedication.

Used to be more common like baack when folks would get gold watches at retirement. Now you are lucky to get a cheap coupon for the local Olive Garden for 10 yearsm while the CEO is flying out on their private jets speaking of cut backs.

Rare item indeed, sorry about the layoff.

Maybe we can turn it into a nice chunk of change for you.

p.s. This is in no way meant as a bash. I understand the way you feel.

If I had the story right the cost of the watch did not come out of the BDM budget, it came directly from Sheldon's pocket. He was a good guy to work for. The guys getting the 10yr watch had been there damn near since the doors opened. Sheldon rewarded those that helped get him here.

I work for Big Dog Motorcycles, LLC. The watch's are real, the person selling this watch is real and the watch's are Rolex Submariners of which there are only 15 of them in the entire world that have the official Big Dog Motorcycles logo on the face. I personally have absolutley nothing to gain from this, I don't have one of these watch's but I have been there for damn near every single one that was presented by Sheldon to the 10 year employees. I missed the first few because I have only worked there for four years and when I started the company was 11 years old.

I'm very fortunate to have a position with Sheldon and BDM and thank god every day that someone with more seniority than myself hasn't decided they want to spend 300+ days a year living in a motel room and not seeing thier families for weeks on end or I too would be at the unemployment office.

I'm not giving credibility to anyone! I know these watch's are real, I have seen them in person and I also know the person who recieved that specific watch is real and no longer with the company. I'm giving credibility to those specific facts, not the seller. As I have said before I spend well in excess of 300 days a year away from Wichita and when I am in Wichita I'm at my house seeing my wife and kids therefor I only have a couple of friends at BDM and can only name a couple dozen people who work there. In short I don't spend time at the factory and as such I do not get to know very many people.

I don't know his reason for posting the way he did and could care less. I can also imagine that having lost a 11+ year job it's probably a little tough for him to want to have anything much to do with this forum right at the moment other than the fact that the most likely group of consumers for that very VERY specific watch is right here. If I had a $5,000+ watch that was brand specific and there were only 15 of them in existance AND I had worked for that company AND I needed the money I would search out a focused group such as we have here to advertise it for sale but I wouldn't be to chatty especially if I needed the money and was out of work.

If someone here is interested in purchasing it there are ways to make the transaction that will protect both parties. I have done it many times on other high value items without ever knowing or seeing the other person. And given the fact that there are only 15 of these in the entire world it would be more than impossible to fence a fake or stolen one.
