Hello all..
My battery went bad with what turned out to be an internal short. It wouldn't pass a load test even though it had the 13 v at idle. I tested it and checked it with it still connected to the bike. I put my 2 amp charger on it for a while even though it had always been connected to the BT Plus.
Anyway I got a new battery and put it in after checking voltage 13.8 and tried to start it. It spun over great but would not start. I checked connections as the battery was the only thing I had messed with.
After doing some more seaching and reading on here I still have some questions.
The scenerio is turn the key on, I think the second lite down on the ECM blinks yellow, the speedo sweeps up a ways and does its thing, the lights are all on and things seem normal.
I press the run switch and the third light down on the ECM lights solid. I can toggle it on and off by pressing the run switch. Still no lite on the Thunderheart.
I hit the start switch and the lite on the Thunderheart starts lighting on and off like its firing.
No other lites on the ECM are on.
I checked for firing on the plug wires with one of those pen checkers and they pulsed exactly like the Thunderheart.
I also took one of them out and did the old ground deal and it was firing.
A couple of things I am not sure about are the lites normal on the ECM and the Thunderheart. I searched on here and had no luck on a pic of the ECM like I have. As far as I can tell it has just one row of lites.
Nothing has been changed on this bike since new as far as electrical except the battery and some lites Strokers installed a couple of years ago. And I have had no trouble with it except it does not get ridden enough with only 1200 miles on it. Running my own business and also owning a Harley has not left much riding time for the Dog or the Harley.
Any suggestions on this problem ?
