Perhaps I am wrong here and someone can set me straight on these bearings.
I went to the not so local Nashville BDM shop to pick up my transmission minus a few parts they forgot to send back. While I was there I purchased a new set of neck bearings and swing arm bearings, F. K. Bearing COM12T-3R at $12.50 each due to one of mine being locked up and not rotating at all. Manual says to "Inspect the spherical bearing for excessive play or binding or any restriction of free play movement. Did not check them due to being put in a bag and put in the box with the tranny.
Had the bag in the car and I stopped at the local Harley shop to see if they are the same thing they sell due to being close to the house and get everyone the Harley part number.
Mind you these are new bearings and you cannot even rotate them at all. You cannot rotate them, spin them or move them. Placed a ratchet inside the bearing for leverage and they still will not budge. What???
Clerk pulls out the Harley swing arm bearing and they move sweet as silk. Put your finger in it and rotate them.
Stop at the local watering hole and let everyone check out the bearings and everyone is like what is this crap.......
I guess you get what you pay for....Check out your stuff...
I can't see putting these in my bike. A trip back to Harley is in order for some quality bearings..
Update:
I went back to Harley with the BDM swing arm bearing and a set of calipers. The 2000 and up Harley bearings have a larger diameter for the shaft to go through so they cannot be used, but the EVO 84-99bearings are a direct replacement. ....
I do not have the BDM swing arm bearing number but the manufacture part number on the package is F. K. BearingsCOM12T-3R. It also says it is a commercial series spherical bearing with snap ring 3/4 X 3/4.
I went to harley Davidson and the Evo bearings are a direct swap at $41.00 a set with everything
The part number I used was a drag specialties part number# 1302-0084.
A sweet piece compared to what I got at the BDM shop.
