I'm sure it probably works. My question is, how necessary is it? Primary adjustments are simple enough. I can usually tell when mine need it, neutral becomes elusive.

It would be nice to set it and forget it though......

I didn't know that the primary adjustment affects neutral. Would the cause be a primary chain that's too loose or too tight?

On my Buell, when the primary chain gets loose, neutral becomes difficult to find. The BD is kinda dificult at the moment. I'm gonna try to adjust it today or tomorrow. I'll report back.

Neutral is difficult to hit on mine. It's easiest if I downshift into neutral while rolling than if I'm stopped.

I have one of them fitted to my K9, pain in the ass to fit.
you will need a die grinder and a fridge full of cold suds to accomplish.
they are designed for Harleys, our BDM inners are somwhat different so a bit releiving is the order of the day, also the cover will need some weight removed and the locking bolt has to be cut back.
Had it in for 2 years, no issue, no primary slap, quieter by a lot and the only time you see it is during the oil change.
Recomended by me.

I had one on my 04 ridgeback and it worked great. it came from southern oregon hot bikes. Now that I have a belt drive neutral is not a problem to find.

How does this effect finding N... I understnad the connections but not sure how this make a difference.

The above Harley factory auto chain tensioner will keep your primary chain as tight as a banjo string. :down: :angry:
It will cause problems you'll have to deal with. :bang:

I have not noticed that, and i change my primary oil at 5000 klm same as my motor and i have tension but i can still move it up and down with one finger.
Mine is the hydralic version using the oil in the primary. A ratchit type one i had 20 years ago curtalinly caused some issues with over tensioning.

The one you have(hydraulic) is good, made by Oregon Hot Bikes. The only part you have to check with that one is the spring. I've seen them break.
The RATCHET adjuster, like the one Johnny B. linked to on E-Bay is the factory Harley adjuster. They're the BADDDD :bang: ones. I set them where I want them, and weld them so they can't adjust themselves. :eek: Worth about 3 extra H.P. and NO PMS.

I know the whys or the wherefors but since I put the belt drive on neutral is as easy as any other gear even while stopped.

Same here with the shifting. Had Andrew rebuild my gear box and I installed the Baker open primary and has been smooth shifting since the work. :up:

why does this smooth it out the shifting?

and what happens IF the primary chain is too loose? will it lock up? or just jump or what.

With too much slack you will get a lot of jerking when letting of and getting on the throttle. And if way too loose your chain might start riding up on the sprocket and tearing the points off the teeth and then your arse is in deep s--t
