Anyone have a ballpark idea on man-hours required to change out the Inner Primary, Chain, Rotor/Stator, Clutch pack, and Starter? I'm seriously considering having the guys at Southern Thunder MS to do everything along with the DYNO/JET/TUNE.

I'd like to have an idea of the man-hours to determine if their estimate is reasonable or not.

Also, I got a programming cable from Curtis for my Thunderheart Ign. Module; Is it necessary for a more professional tune to modify the settings, or simply go to a different position on the Dial? There are 16 pre-programmed positions on the Dial, I think Curtis set mine on 3. I want the best tune possible, but ABSOLUTELY DON'T WANT to push up against any settings that would jeopardize the integrity of the engine.

With the know how and proper tools, R&R should take about 4hrs. If its just install, half that? I know I can pull inner n outer and reinstall within a day. But Im in My shop. I dont have all the fancy stuff a "real" shop has. And I aint on the "clock" either. @ $120 an hr shop time it can add up quick. BUT these are just MY thoughts.

I've given this alot of thought; I have no doubt that I could do it. However, there are certain things that I like to be ABSOLUTELY SURE about, and having never done this before I lack that certainty. The fact that this involves the drive train connection from engine to tranny, I simply don't feel comfortable doing this particular job. Example, Chain coming off at 70 mph! If I had someone with me to guide me through the steps (And potential mistakes) I wouldn't hesitate. So, let me talk with them Saturday and find out what they plan to charge me and then make the decision. Question: Are there any special tools I would need? I've got a good 1/2" Drive Impact Gun...Impact sockets, Deep Wells, Extended Impact Hex Bits, and a decent Torque Wrench.

Would one of you be interested in walking me through this if I decide to do it myself???

If youve made it this far in the teardown/rebuild, you have the skills bro. Its the confidence ya lack. We gotcha....its not a tough job. Just a bit of paitence is required. Chain aint gonna fly off so let that one go. Hahahaa. I hadnt rode the Pitbull even a year when I started what you did. I had waaay less experience than you but with the forums help, she lives. We all in this together. Dont know if this helps?

Ya know the old saying, if it flies floats or fks, rent it!
These were RENTALS! I had to let the first one go...couldn't keep up with the payments! Last one (pic 4&5) is more reasonable...so far. However, it's been my experience that the monthly payments usually DOUBLE EVERY MONTH!!!

I think you convinced me to give it a try. At the very least you inflated my ego...Hahaha. And tools??? Anything special besides what I mentioned?

That’s exactly what I said. Man if you guys could see his K9 in person you would all agree. Confidence is the last thing I would think you were lacking in Dave. It’s really not that hard comparing to other stuff you have done on the bike. You are so meticulous that it would be perfect just as well every thing else on the bike. Not that you need it but, good luck with it.

One of the old guys here had a saying that has really stuck with me.
"Why Pay someone else to fk up your bike when YOU can do it for Free".;)
I think I read the same quote! Ok...I'll do it. I'm going to get the DYNO Tune, then I'll get started. I've got some pretty serious issues with my back and can only work on the bike Saturdays (Sunday is Date Day) so it will be slow going. That sometimes even works better for me, gives me more time to think about what I'm doing. Appreciate the video also, I'll have a look after work.

Really do appreciate the compliment Snuffy, as well as the encouragement. I hope you can stop by again when it's all done. I haven't checked in with the Italian guy working on my seat, don't want him thinking I'm in a hurry. However, I'm thinking he should be finished or close to it by the time everything else is done.

Possibly this socket. I’m not super sure about the later model K9’s but all my bikes need this to remove the transmission nut. It has its own airgun. Sounds like you will have it well in hand by yourself. Great job so far!

I'm pretty sure I've got a 1-7/8" socket. If I recall correctly, my K9 Gear Nut is the same as yours.

Appreciate it. Had quite a fan club today with the bike on the trailer...people stopping to take pictures! Two different times cars drove up next to me and asked me to slow down for pics. I think with the rear fender off maybe some thought it was a Drag Bike. Whatever...I enjoyed the attention.
