They are probably all the same but this one imparticular is 06 mastiff . I'm putting a new final or main drive belt on I'm down to separating the frame. Now where it separates is that Allen head a left hand thread..I don't want to break it
That is the proper way correct. I also see on that same bolt there is a large sleeve or something that's round that has 2 flat sides where a wrench could possibly fit. Would that possibly be the key to separating the frame. I don't have a service Manuel but it is on my list. Ty for any help anyone can provide

I’m not 100% sure but I was thinking on the ‘06 mastiff you didn’t need to take the rear swing arm apart to get the drive belt off…. Just remove the rear wheel. Now LSD I was thinking was the opposite. You have to remove the swing arm at least on my Vintage Sport.

I sure haven’t Pat, but it can’t be as bad as changing out a LSD belt. I would certainly think Knothead would have the information you are looking for. Pretty sure Daves mastiff is a RSD. Give him a call.

It can definitely be tricky without the manual in front of you. From what I remember, that sleeve with the flat sides is meant to hold things steady while you back out the Allen, so using a wrench there helps keep it from spinning. And yes, the rear wheel has to come off to make life easier. If you’re worried about thread direction, I’d double-check with Knothead or someone who’s done a Mastiff belt swap recently; better safe than snapping a bolt.

Will do Thanks Mick, I thought I would start here and see who chimes in. I called Gates and they don't make that belt anymore and it's a 1 1/8 X 133 teeth and the Gates CS guy I talked to has yet to make it to the CS classes. :(
I have the wheel off for a new tire and the belt is 20 years old so I thought it could use a new one.

I do have a manual and always us it as the memory is very good but also very short. Have you replaced a belt on your Bike?
