Whats a good filter setup for the mikunis? That Air Filter Assembly, is KILLING your power.
You can use just about anything you want if you are getting the universal air cleaner adapter. The stock S&S teardrop is decent. You can boost the flow a bit with the wide element kit. I've heard that the screamin' eagle heavy breather is good. The forcewinder is pretty good. Yeah, the spike air cleaners are known to be restrictive, but some guys are ok with that because they like the look. I can understand that. It all depends on what you want.Whats a good filter setup for the mikunis?
John what do you recommend? That Air Filter Assembly, is KILLING your power.
Ya i have the teardrop now with the newer big dog cover. I kinda want to change it to something common that i can get a paper filter for. The teardrop i can only find the k&n style and it fits goofy and lets to much dirt in. Not really a fan of the spikes anyway myself. You can use just about anything you want if you are getting the universal air cleaner adapter. The stock S&S teardrop is decent. MLeach has laid out a good list of non-restrictive a/cleaners, that will work.John what do you recommend?

Post #23. Some air cleaners aren't going to work on an S&S carb or efi without some sort of adapter. The mikunis have a universal adapter which opens some more possibilities.will you post the link?

The S&S tear drop won’t work on the Mikuni due to having a cable pull enricher not the handle of an S&SYou can use just about anything you want if you are getting the universal air cleaner adapter. Yeah, I can see that, if the cable is mounted to the front. The convex backplate probably hits the cable assembly. It should work though if you run the cable to the other side of the bike, like on a harley. The S&S tear drop won’t work on the Mikuni due to having a cable pull enricher not the handle of an S&S
Jonathan, they make a short choke knob for the mikunis. It would probably only work on chopper style bikes though. I doubt you would be able to get your hand in behind the carb on the pro-street style bikes. The S&S tear drop won’t work on the Mikuni due to having a cable pull enricher not the handle of an S&S

Yeah, it's the same on all mikunis. It can be replaced with the knob. It's actually just a very short cable. You just unscrew the cable from the back of the carb and screw the knob in.It’s a pull cable on the Mikuni 48. View attachment 132726
