Zinc terminals

just a question, anyone have any input on Zinc terminals as opposed to lead terminals?, I was looking on batteries plus site and found two batteries for the bike, couldn’t see a difference except color of the case,turns out one is zinc terminal- $115,the other is lead-$140, I don’t really care about the price difference, just pros v cons on the zinc v lead..Thanks

For the 100 millonth time, stop putting cheap batteries in these bikes. Order a Deka battery, or go down to the Harley shop and get one that will last and not short out and burn up your EHC. :2cents:

I'm guessing that they are trying to get some of the lead out of the environment maybe? Zinc is a little bit less toxic I think, and probably cheaper ( just a guess ).

The gray case battery from batteries plus is a deka battery..fyi

They may be. I just change out so many of these cheap batteries, and see the damage they do, I just get on my soap box everytime the subject comes up.
On another note, most of my income, comes from equipment I repair in the lead mines here in Missouri. Use more lead.

Hey, I use 50 to 100 pieces of lead every week! (some smaller than others)!
I tend to recycle the brass but I leave the lead down range for someone else to deal with much later!
I know its not a lot but I'm trying to do my part to keep you working!

Good morning gentlemen,
I went to the Harley dealership to pick up which ever battery they recommended for my bike… an 06 k9.
The guy behind the counter handed me the latest and greatest in batteries and told me you can’t go wrong with one of these lithium batteries.
I’ve never much been one for the latest and greatest of anything so I told the nice gentleman, let me go home and check with the guys on the Big Dog forum...and I’ll get back to you :)
I’m looking for two cents everybody.

Braille was great for two years than crapped out hard, from start to no go seemed like overnight, both of them. I was in a pinch and neede a battery instantly, found the grey case Duracell (Deka) at batteries plus, bike was up and running within an hour of needling one, hard to beat a two year replacement warranty(normal wear and tear)and availability across the states if needed, unfortunately(or fortunately) for me they both outlasted the warranty, Im going to go with again, just didn’t know the diff between zinc or lead terminals if any. I see the zinc has better conductivity and little to no corrosion, which I’ve never had a problem with either, my batteries don’t have time to corrode, they shit the bed first. My bike is older, before the crappy ECH’s, so, haven’t had a problem there either.
