Your past Big Dog Sturgis memories

Have a question about my 2004 ridgeback 6 sp baker. With my bike on a stand I can shift all gears up and down but when I go to mover the rear wheel all I hear is a clunk. Also have the spark plugs removed.

Ok. I found out what happened. My primary chain broke and wrapped around the clutch gears. Now there are 2 links of chain on top of each other and jammed at the top. Tried to break the chain in a few places but no luck . Now I got the center hub nut off and the 2 set bolts but the hub is budging. What else can I do to get the hub off in order to get the complete clutch basket off. That’s probably the only way I can free the chain.

Clunks where? Transmission? Engine? Primary? Very vague information. And this thread is about past Sturgis Memories. I’m thinking this is not one of those…
think in this case it’s ok to help this guy fix his problem as what happens in Sturgis stays in Sturgis.
knott or Shannon or one of the guys thats dealt with this will chime in.

You removed the outer primary cover? I would think that would fix the problem. I have a rivera/primo clutch & had to buy a hub puller to get it off. You may need to purchase one for that job.Post a picture if you can. Seeing is believing. Good luck!

Looking forward to retirement
Pull the outer primary cover. This isn’t gonna happen any other way. Mick is correct , you’re most than likely gonna need to pull the hub. If you’re still in Sturgis, go to the J&P cycle store on Lazelle St. they most than likely have the parts or can order and get them in over night. They should have a hub puller there on the shelf. If you pull the outer primary and the chain comes out bring all the links and J&P should be able to over night the length you need.
