Yep clutch cable at almost 10,000 miles went. Broke at the cluch handle lever. It was not the cable but the ferrell(circle) at the end. Lucky I was only a mile from the house. I have emailed Barnett to see what they can do. Read alot of post on this. Looks like I will be getting a back up for the future. Very easy to take off. Great time to polish what I usually can't get to.

Bummer - call Cycle City in TN, they may be able to ship one out today, otherwise, you have to wait 'till Tuesday when most of the shops open to ship. I had a problem over Labor Day Weekend - couldn't find a cable within 500 miles of me, sucked to be bikeless that entire weekend. Good luck, the install is pretty easy.

Yep this is a must for a back up item. Easy fix with a spare. A word to the wise better have a spare or it could leave you stranded. I was lucky with this one. I was close to home.

My spare is an HD off a Wide Glide, a small shop in Leesburg got me back on the road with it and now it's my spare.:2thumbs:

Bought a spare from Thumper and took it on my trip to BBBQ. Didn't have to use it....but it was nice knowing I had it. I have 16,000 miles on my dog and still have the original cable.

I've used a cable saver before when on the road. We need to keep the clutch cable well lubed to help. The cable saver is a small device that allows you to reconnect the cable when broken on the end. I've pasted a link to one very simlar to what I've used. I'm still digging around for my old ones to take a pic of.

Mike
Sorry to hear about your cable breaking. It is probably our cable so if yo send it to us we can repair it at no charge. Although we did make some changes to the cables in 2006 becaue of the problem of the cables breaking at the bottom it does not elimate the problem. It's not a matter of if the cable will break but when the cable break. We told Big Dog that we would not warrenty the cables because of the Baker Transmission they use. The problem is that Baker uses a slotted half ball it attach the cbale to the clutch arm. This ball fits into a balle out recession in the arm, so when you add pressure he ball des not move freely up and down which causes the cable to bend up and down and will break the cable just like breaking a hanger. If you have seena Harleys arm system the cable fits on a arm that move easily up and down on the top of the arm.

06 ridgeback clutch cable

Anyone have a clutch cable number for 06 Ridgebacks , mine just broke at the ferrel too . Love the bike but man ,it's got a black cloud over it. Vr fire, cables, oil tank battery box covers that shake apart,recalls... And that dude Bob whatever the F$@! his name is at bigdog wont help you.he just tries to sell replacement junk.Lucky I have two other bikes. And all this under 10000 miles.I have a 99 fatboy with 50000 miles and stock cables still !
Looking for stainless with a clear coat.Trying to take a short cut and pick your brains so I can just order it .Don't have much time for shit lately. So if I can get it ordered without tearing old one out , measuring and checking the the types of ends, I'll save a little time.
Thanks

If you have the time remove the old cable and sent it to:
Barnett Tool & Eng.
2238 Palma Dr.
Ventura, CA. 93003
Attn: Cable Dept.

Send them the old and they will replace with new cable and send it back to you.
I did buy a replacement cable from shovelheadkicker on ebay and it was I believe 69" . I always like to have a back up on hand. Took about 1 hour to replace the cable.

Stupid question, but how much is a cable?

Should it just be replaced every 7500 miles as a service item.
Cable runs about $70.00 I got 16,000 miles out of mine and replaced it. Cable never broke....but was getting harder to pull. It just a crap shoot on when to replace. Some break early and some last a while.
