Year 2000 VDO Speedo Calibration?

My original VDO Speedo stopped working due to vibration induced failure. I bought an exact replacement off ebay (with only 100 mile differential!) and installed it pretty easily.

The catch is that it is not calibrated to my setup. A short 3.7 mile trip registered 4.3 miles. Damn.

Does anyone know if it's possible to calibrate these things for varying conditions/setups?

Try a google or this link - it's in KM so just change to 1 mile

Looks pretty simple....just need a marked 1 mile stretch....shouldn't be too hard to figure out.
I should've googled but thought this was a more targeted audience....but google is amazing.
