I got my xxx G hung on today and when I started tring to dial it in,
I started with a 31 Inter. and a 78 Main.Everything was ok at regular
speed but when I opened it up it just kind of bogged out, like it was
getting to much gas, so I dropped down to a 76, and It was a little better
so I dropped on down to a 74 and it started cutting out at about 4 grand.
Every time I changed jets I turned the Acc. pump off to not have any
interference from it.I just could not get it to smooth out ether way I went.
one other thing I am running a wimmer dual throat with supper suckers on
it could I be getting to much air. My acc.pump is right at 1 3/4 turns out.
Appreciate any help
;

74 sounds way too small to me especially with the wimmer intake - have you removed the little allen screw in the carb? I can't remember the name of it but it is mentioned on here somewhere - it might help

You're in the ballpark with jets. Mine was shipped with a 29.5/72 combo and to my suprise it worked well for this area.

Sounds like you are doing everything right to get it dialed in. One thought would be did you happen to take it apart and check for debrie? Another member here found a lot of shaving/polishing material in his.

At 4 grand you are definately fully on the main jet so you should be able to rule out transition problems from the intermediate to main.
Do you Wimmer stacks have filters in them or screens? I only ask cause when I had my bike dyno'd with the Wimmer Ultra Sucker they proved to me that it sucked (or didn't suck) enough air in.

Other option is to give Bob a call and as his opinion as he is the expert.

Good luck,
Ray

I talked to Bob at xxx today and he also said that the air hole to the far
left of the carb. was probably restricted. He said to remove the allen screw
below it and see if that helped.I did and boy what a difference.I'll pull the
breather tomorrow and find the restricton.I also went back to the 78 main.
Thanks everyone for the help:

Went to s&s site and they say that if you are drag racing or running
a intake with no filter system that you will have to run witout the vent
screw.
