xr1200 speedo install?

Hello all. Im having my bike rewired and will be removing the ehc. With that will go the speedo. Im more concerned with odometer as its my gas gauge. My question is, is this unit compatible with a positive 12 volt system? Harley couldnt tell me anything.

FYI, you don't have to ditch the speed with a rewire. The speedo only needs power ground and the speed sensor from trans.
