Agree, looks like an electric disconnect, they use the same ones on RVs and such...I guess it could be a "security system" since you can take it out like a key.
Never seen one on a BD though.

With removable key .

RVs, Boats, Maybe heavy equipment.
Think drag cars have something similar with a perminate lever in place of key .

Not a bad idea considering these bikes have basically no security, although I don't like the placement. It still doesn't stop a thief from rolling your bike down the street to a trailer, then he has all the time he needs. I'm taking my pitbull to ocean city bike week the weekend before Dave's. I think I'm going to buy a disc lock, just to be safe.

That's what I use...I also use a super heavy (supposedly unbreakable) chain that is wrapped in ballistic nylon (so it doesn't scratch stuff) that I run through the frame or rear wheel and to an object...sucks but some of the area I used to ride was notorious for bikes "walking off".
Watched a cargo van pull up a bunch of guys jump out and literally pick up a bike lift it into the back and drive off in less then 10 seconds while the owner was in a bar (gypsy jokers in the PNW). I guess if they want it bad enough there isn't much stopping them. Either way sucks that's the world we live in.

Yep. 4 guys with steel poles and a pickup stole almost a dozen bikes from an event in Coffeyville yrs back. Thieves suck ass.

That’s a must have! Just don’t forget it’s on there. I have BigDog lock’s from HDM Inc. on the Dogs but found this one for the Texas Chopper. May not stop them but it slows them down…IMG_7822.jpeg

That's cool Mick! I think the locks from HDM used to come with a yellow lanyard that you hooked to the handlebars to warn others and yourself that there is a disc lock on it. It appears now that they come with maybe a magnet you stick on the handlebar. Do you put yours on the front or the rear? I would think it would be much more difficult to lift the rear and drag the bike than the front. The front forks would be flopping around pulling it from the rear.

Yeah Matt I have mine on the rear & agree it would be more difficult that way. I also have a cable lock that I can use as someone else mentioned and it has a touch sensitive db alarm. Pretty much they are just for keeping the honest man honest. If some crooks want your shit bad enough they will find a way to circumvent the locks unfortunately.
