to be sure only one cylinder is firing............check for spark on both..............then check to see if fuel is getting to both.

i had a problem with my bike in the past where it was not getting sufficient fuel to the left side of the tank. the pits (i have an 08) have a split tank with a jumper fuel line in between. if it is blocked or obstructed it may prevent suffucient fuel to transfer to the carb.... i think.

mine sat for a while and it seemed as if there was an obstruction ( a kink or solidified fuel). check for spark and then fuel. if not it may be the starter work you had done.

second what ray says......it sounds kind of silly but mine just wasn't getting fuel to the cylinders.
I started the bike and pulled the back wire off the off the bike and it kept running. I put that wire back on and then pulled the other one and it shut down. This tells me it is running on 1 cylinder.
When I was filling the tank with new gas I could see the gas running down the clear tube under the seat so I do not think there is an obstruction to the carb.

pumpdogs, take a can of starting fluid and shoot a small amount into the carb aned if it starts right up you need to go through your fuel system if it makes no difference then start checking your ignition system for problems did you have any issues at all before you took it down to fix the starter, missing , backfiring, hard starting?
No I did not have any problems but the bike was sitting about 2 months.

If the front cylinder is running then the back should run or try to run if it's getting good spark. Both cylinders share same fuel source..right?

Try a new plug in the rear cylinder and check the firing spark quality. A weak spark plug may not fire under compression.

Not sure because I have a EFI bike, but isn't there a brass plug in the carb floatbowl to access the jet that could help drain the carb w/o removing the bowl?

After you try the spark plug as mentioned, then check the spark plug wire, then the coil.

Sounds like a coil issue to me....

Gas will not go bad in 3 weeks, 2 months ect.

Hell my bike sits from late October until April (don't start it in all that time) with no stabilizer in it and it's fire's after hitting the starter 3 - 4 times in the spring. I've had my gas edger sit for a couple of years and it'll fire with a few pulls.

ALWAYS use 91 octane or better (I prefer Sunoco's 94 Ultra)
