number one, if you want help from a forum, you do not come on with the first word out of your mouth being WTF. show respect for the people you are inquiring of or you may may not get any answers. talk to us like you want to be talked to. we had nothing to do with your '02 big dog.

Hi Freddy and welcome to the pound from south Mississippi. If I understand you right, it sounds like the plug where the voltage regular connects to the stator. More than likely, your voltage regulator crapped out on you. Do a search on here for voltage regulator/stator check. It's possible that your stator may be the culprit but there is a way to test and find out the difference. Replacing your VR is not that big a deal but if your plug is fried to the point of no return, it may be that you'll have to replace it. Once the VR quits working, it stops charging your battery and your battery dies. That's why you get the "click, click" of an uncharged battery trying to crank your dog. Put your battery on a tender and get it charged back up. Once charged, you should be able to start your bike and perform a couple of tests using a volt meter to determine if your VR or stator is what's causing your problems.

I agree also have seen it before. more than likely from the sound or things you are going to have to replace the stator and vr. not that hard a job.

If you are going to get all upset over what someone replies to your crappy way of asking for help, then after you fix your voltage regulator, go "WTF" yourself and don't come back.

Also yesturday when the bike wasnt starting after the hole plug incident and the starter was just clicking. I turned my key all my lights worked so i thought the same thing i hooked up a charger to the battery put it on engine start to tri and see if the starter would engage. And nothing it just click click click clicks really fast and it dosnt sound like its engaging or even tring to turn the motor over. Do you think i burnt the starter or mabe somethings just messed up and not engaging

Hey Freddy, welcome to the forum. You may want to introduce yourself in the "Introductions" folder and give a little info about yourself, riding experience, etc.

I would be cautious using an engine start on any battery charger for your motorcycle. Not sure what kind of unit your working with but some only put out a measly 40 amps and some will do 700+. I assume the one you tried was <100 amps and thats not going to turn over your engine as you need at least 250 minimium. If you have one that does too many amps then you could do more damage than good.

My advise is get a "battery maintainer" and leave that on overnight for it to charge your battery. They are cheap $20 will get you one at Walmart, and whenever your not riding for any long periods of time stick the maintainer on her.

OK, now that things have settled down, as far as most things electrical with the dogs, usually it can be traced back to the battery. it seems the dogs need around 12.8 volts to start properly, or at least on the newer ones. most batteries are barely at that number when brand new, so it is important that the battery you depend on is kept in top notch condition. which means buy as good a battery as you can find (whether it be braille, big boar, harley agm, or what ever you decide) and remember that when you are not riding, the bike should be on a tender (battery tender jr., or "MadDog" has a good one on his site [sponsor]) if your scoot still has the ehc, it will usually draw about .2 volts per night just maintaining the information held inside, thus needing the tender.

follow the advice of the others as far as the V/R goes, all good advice. and good luck.

Welcome to the forum, and yes, do an introduction. once you do that you will be more a part of the family instead of being the rowdy uncle that nobody likes.

hey Freddy, when you ride a hot rod on 2 wheels, you're just going to have issues from time to time. It's a trade off. Power vrs reliability. With the help of the forum, you can keep your dog running top notch. Batteries are the culprit to the majority of electrical problems, so get a good one and keep it charged. Once you get that, your dog should start. After that, run a check on the VR and stator. Let us know how it goes. Post some pics of your dog, your kids, your wife in a bikini. We're all family!!
