WTB Piston Ring Compressor

JEGS got one part #555-80516 fits 2 7/8 to 4 3/8 bore price is 69.99 this is the plier and band type. this is the kind I use.:cheers:

The problem with the auto parts store models is that the bands aren't removeble from the tool (or intended not to be!). With a V-8 your sliding the piston down into the cylinder well then the clamp tool is free and clear.
With a V-Twin you are sliding the cylinder over the piston trapping the tool over the block with the piston rod in the middle of the tool.
If the band is not removable then you can't get it out and all the tools I checked out at the auto shops were the same.
But the JEGS one above would work just great but I didn't see one like that anywhere around here!

So, I did it the ole fashion way. 4 hands! :lol:

I put the piston in the jug first and then slide the jug down and put in the connecting pin. It takes two people to do it but it is easy to do. I use the ring compressor that looks like a can and got it at an auto parts store.
