Running with the stock exhaust on the 05 mastiff, not quite doing it for me. Anyone have different exhaust for sale? Maybe even ideas? Seen some nice ones, having commitment issues hahaha

picture is for attention, also the machine needing the exhaustCC3E0C46-4AA0-4E61-BA9A-039C94DA5F22.jpeg

Might want to check out bigdogpartskingpin.com think they have a new exhaust made by blow that some are putting on the 05 and newer bikes, there's also the ambush pipes from Accessories HD off ebay and a set of knock off big radius pipes on ebay for RSD bikes. Other than that you might can find a set of FSD Hotrods for sell or a keeper 2 into1 that originally came on the 04- earlier models but were then again put on the 08 mutts and coyotes. Other than that not a lot of RSD options out there no more.

Yeah, I would get a hold of Eric at bigdogpartskingpin and see what he has. He has some new V&H big radius, but I don't see any listed for 05-up 250 softails. He may have some, but just aren't listed. Since you have the stock exhaust, your cheapest route for new pipes would be the Mean Mothers II slip-ons. You just install them on the stock head pipes. I have the original Mean Mothers. They are the same pipe, just a one-piece design. They are a good exhaust and sound good too.

Actually the big radius he has will fit the 250 but you have to make the mounting bracket. And they will stick out a little further. I had talked to him (Erik) about putting them on my 06 Mastiff. Seems that V&H never really made one specific for the 05, 06 250 wide tires, just a different mount bracket but they no longer offer the mounting bracket. From what I understand.

Thank you guys, y’all are confirming all that I’m saying. Was hoping I was seeing differently. I’m in a limbo between 4 styles. This is worse than clothes shopping hahaha

Whatever you choose, I would highly suggest a baffled exhaust. There are several companies that make short open pipes that will probably work, but no baffle will cause a big loss in bottom end torque and can make getting the carb tuned a PITA. Open pipes are loud as hell, but usually aren't the best performers.

Not really looking for extremely loud, definitely louder than this stock exhaust though. It’s just a bit quiet for my liking. I’m sure most will agree on that.

Yeah, the stock exhaust sucks. Any quality exhaust is going to sound a good bit better.

If you go with the Blow exhaust system. You can get it from Barnes Performance Cycles for RSD 250 & 300 rear. He designed the mounting adapters. DO NOT buy the baffles. Install torque cones & they will work fine for added back pressure.Baffles only if you get straight drag pipes. FEE19F38-C4D4-4B38-B499-4D0E277AA9AB.jpeg

These are on the top of the list for my options, just concerned on the exhaust placement. That outside exhaust pipe looks like it is right where I put my foot down when I’m sitting on the bike. Being only 5’6”, legs don’t have much reach hahaha

It is close. I can feel it on my pant leg at times. But they sound pretty awesome!
