I have a friend's son that wanting to buy a Big Dog.... The catch is he is in Germany and in the military and the only way he could possibly do this is for someone to carry the note. I know it's a long shot but thought I would throw it out there in case this might hit someone in the sweet spot. The bike would be kept at his Dad's house in Texas until he retires from the military. If anyone is interested let me know. Thanks.

Just a few questions? What would happen if a nice person carried a note for your friends son and the bike got stolen from his dads house while he is in Germany? Would the son pay back the nice person even if he didn't have the bike around? Would the dad? Would the nice person holding the note still have to pay the bank back? Would his credit be shot to hell?:bang: Sorry got carried away there, I do wish him the best of luck in his quest to aquire the Great Big Dog Motorcycle.

That would be an understatement!
you know how when your younger you try everything you can to get something.
And that's when you just say "NO!"
He'll just have to wait until he gets home.
That part makes sense! You buy something when and if you can afford it. There'll be plenty of Dogs for this kid to choose from when he gets home! :2thumbs:

ok people I have carried a note on a house now for 3 years and I have made approx 22000 extra dollars than selling it out right, but I wouldn't won't someone else to benefit. Just hold on to your Big Dog's and let them sit in the garage or let the bank come after them that's your choice how does that hit your sweet spot. He'll take his business somewhere else when the time comes. I just hope your not ever in that situation where you need to sell your bike but can't. So for all you folks out there commenting just leave it at home I wasn't asking for your opinion :bang::bang:

If my comments have offended you Randall, I apologize. :(

But may I ask why he doesn't just go to the bank and take out a a loan?

he's young and in the military has no credit to speak of. But I understand why alot of people would be hesitant to do something like this. He will just have to wait until he gets out when he does he'll have the cash in hand to purchase a bike then. No problem about the comments I do understand, but there is someone out there that has been laid off, can't make payments, etc.. This would be for them. I'm right along with most unless I needed to unload a bike I would not do this either. Sorry for the sharp response.

I am not afraid of offending anyone.

Here is what happened to me.
My wifes son joined the Air Force and maybe 6 months in, he wants to buy her pristine Toyota. The catch was that he couldn't get a loan. Hell, I am a stand-up guy so I suggested to my wife that I would consider co-signing for him like he had asked her to do (she didn't have the credit history to do it, of course I did). Plus we gave him a sweet price.

Fast foward 1.5 years. This shit of a son of hers was apparently having trouble dealing with authority in the service and had drifted off course. When I co-signed on the loan, it was supposed to be a payroll deduction (that was one of my conditions). Somehow it wasn't and next thing I know is I have the AirForce credit Union up my ass wanting back payments. Meanwhile the kid had ceased communicating with Mom (actually made some death threats to her in an email which I ended up giving the FBI). We escalated the situation to his commanding officer which pissed the kid off even more but got the loan current. Another year passed and a repeat performance on his part. Apparently he either totalled the car out or somehow the loan was satisifed since no more trouble since.

It's total bullshit to cosign for a child, much less a stranger. I have a similar horror story on carrying the note on a house for someone. Hey, if they pay it with no problems, it's a sweet deal, but when they don't then you have legal costs that quickly wipe out any profit you have made.

If I can make my point to just 1 person here, then it's worth pissing off the entire board.

I would think if someone were willing to carry the note, that the bike wopuld stay at the noteholders addy till it was paid off.

OR, he could save up untill he got home and pay cash.

Also, Military credit unions will usually loan a young soldier money to buy a car or bike with the end of the loan coinciding with the end of their enlistment. It worked for me.

Good Luck

Thanks everyone I know of the horror stories out there I should not have even started this thread. I agree with what everyone is saying. I hate it when everyone is right except for me.:rant:
