OK, here's the pics of the switches, HD original equipment. Bars were cut off and an insert welded in to accept the smaller diameter housings. Right is start (automatic compression release), kill and turn; left is horn, high/low and turn. Simple and functional.
So you have to cut, weld in a new piece, and re-chrome the bars?

Re-chroming is not necessary; a fine bead was carefully laid between the two pieces to allow the housing to fit snugly up to the original bar. If you look closely, you may notice a very slight gap between the switch housing and the bar, especially on the left side. So, I am assuming the weld is strong enough; haven't dropped it yet to test it, and don't plan to.
