Wires Plus or Doc's

Well for those of you, (which includes myself) who did the wire plus, that was our only choice at the time. I don't think they offered any other alternative. So with that I think the wire plus was a decent replacement. Our only choice was to replace with another EHC. And since most people lost faith in the EHC wire plus was the way to go.

Same here and zero problems in 8,000 miles.

No one is faulting anyone for going with WP previously, we are just cautioning people going forward based on many experiences.

My belief at this point is the WP failure rate is worse than the EHC ever was. There are much better options now.

I agree. This thing has had the WP, the PDM/HCI and now the RIP. I talked to the TH tech and we discussed the THMC and it really sounds like a solid unit. All solid state self reset micro relays and breakers inside. It's been said, a number of issues with WP was the install. Too many potential failures.

Yup. When I did the rebuild, it was the only option. I trust MY work, and WP is just down the road from me IF it craps out. So far so good, but we are talking serious vibration AND electronics together so fingers crossed.

I got WP on mine and a total of well over 8000 miles now since it was fitted by the guy I bought the bike off and no problems so far. But I do agree options were probably limited at the time.

Aint Rip, Doc and this THMC really the same unit?

TH-MHC is the module used in both the RIP and ESC kit.

The kits are pre wired with matching connectors for your bike to be plug and play.
Thats what I thought. So it is like arguing wether GMC is better than Chevy. It all comes to price and how much work you are willing to do yourself

Not really, if the connectors weren't wired correctly, you have problems, the RIP had these problems but I think and I say I think they fixed them, the DOC unit has been plug n play and so were the other ones supposed to be. With that said, yes the controllers are the same, but are all the wires correct????
Doc's are, I just installed one within the last 2 weeks

Another difference was that the Rip kit, the " run " switch acted as both the off and on switch and the " high beam" switch acted as both the high and low switch. Docs keeps all the functions the same. I think Curtis said that the rip kit is now updated so it uses all original functions. Doc has the added option of the fault light for the charging system. Same base but they are still a little different.

Common theme around the WP units is us guys who installed them 4+ years ago seem to be fine. They must have changed something since.

I got 10k on my WP and not a single issue. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't do WP again. It's a pretty painstaking install and to do it right is going to take 8-10 hrs minimum you gotta do one wire at a time pretty much so you font get confused. Unless you are doing them all the time. I probably took 14 hrs total in it. soldering, checking the connections 2-3x then heatwrapping everything.
