Really hoping to get some feedback from Jake on this too. But does anyone hope the different bettween these two EHC replacements. From the picture on the site it doesn't look like adirect replacement. And the cost is somewhat higher than the WirePlus at $569. Any input from you guys will help. We all know about the WirePlus, but I haven't seen must on this replacement from DBM. I need to do this soon because my EHC appears to be actting up just waiting to leave on the side of the road one day just looking at the bike.

I will buy Wireplus from Jake when I get the $$ saved, everybody seems 100% satisfied. Why get one from BDM for more money, when they put the one on thats going to leave you stranded. Seems like a no brainer :)

Well, the BDM option is unproven to me but the Wire Plus has been... with plenty of experience with installing them right here on Big Dog Biker. I guess it boils down to what you want, something proven or the new option that is a gamble at this point.

You have the same bike 2007 K9, have you put a WirePlus in your bike yet?

Just ordered the WirePlus from Jake on Friday. I have an 08 k-9. The new BD performance site dosn't list a replacement kit for anything older than 2010 or '11. Was tempted to wait, but was having problems with my EHC already, and wanted to go with something proven, that dosn't seem to have any complaints, by those that have made the switch. Will keep everybody updated on the install. Now just have to find out when the WirePlus will be shipped to me.

I checked the BDM site before writing this and it is listed there with a picture of it. But it was first said it would be just a swap out with no rewiring. But from the picture on the site it looks like you will have to do almost the same rewiring.

No, but it is sitting on the shelf in the garage. I've had it for more then a year now. I have been lucky with my EHC but I'll probably do the swap in the next few months and sell the EHC.

Over the last few months I've put a lot a work into the bike adding stuff so money a little tight, so I don't want to get it if I don't really need it yet. When I try to start the bike in the morning the Speedo and signal lights don't work. Bike starts and cranks fine. Yes I've check the battery and keep it on a Tender as soon as I put it away for the day. It's not the battery. So I disconnected the the EHC and sprayed it out with some connect cleaner. I'm letting it dry over night and will took it back up when I get home tonight. If that don't work than I'll be getting the WirePlus.

I've done both installs. The PDM is pretty simple, just yank the old harness and plug in the PDM. The only wires I cut were the grounds to consolidate them, but this was by my own choice. There is an issue with the horn causing the bike to stall, but I got a call from Freedom Cycle Monday and she said the fix from BD is in the mail. You can also solder in a resistor to fix the issue, takes all of 5 min. Wire plus is a good unit but a lot more work, and not nearly as clean unless you spend some serious time re-arranging things. I've got 5 guys I ride with running wire plus units that I installed, and all have run fine. One had a failure but WP is saying his battery cable came loose, though he denies it. Either way they replaced it for him. A few of the guys have intermittent speedo issues, but IMO they just need new speedo's, I don't think it's WP related. The PDM is unproven, but goes to a very simple relay/fuse arrangement which is how it should have been from the start. Nothing "solid state" belongs on a chopper.

It's fixed!!!! I sprayed it out with connect cleaner and let it sit for 24 hours to dry. Came home and put some new electic grease and tooked everything back up and everything lite up!!! I don't have to buy an EHC!!!!!! I didn't believe and turn off and on a few time and everything is working. Must had been a loose connection somewhere.

Hate to burst your bubble, but EHC problems are intermittant and totally random, that's how it starts. Bike might stall today and start right up in 5 minutes, or 5 hours, or 5 days. You never know. Start budgeting for the Wire Plus or PDM.
