This is not what I want to see... I just had a WP installed on my bike. I rode it home and put it in the basement to clean it up and store it for the winter. Its to cold to put any real miles on it to see how its gonna work.:(

Yeah, Your telling me.. I'm hoping that maybe there is just a bad one in a batch or something but hopfully once i get these new modules everything works out for the better. I just want a reliable machine without the BS... Fingers crossed!!

Well....for whats its worth I had to install a wire plus also. After install it fired right up. Rode it all last summer without a problem. I think its "the luck of the draw" or something like that. I think most are trouble free.

Well that's always reassuring to hear the positive side of things!
Other than barbed wire this was my first try at wiring anything and with the help of this forum and a couple members it went without a whole lot of trouble, some but not alot:D

Yeah, I honestly did the install myself it was very simple and easy.. However I'm taking mine in to a shop to solder everything and just button up and clean up any loose ends..then im sure it will be 100%

If you had it running it has to be the module that gave out or WP wouldn't be replacing it for free. Apparently that module has failed before. I would just replace the module and see what happens, its a free one anyway :D I have had mine on since 2007 and still going strong.

Yeah, I agree... However I would really like all connections to be soldered for more durabilty.. I've already tried my hand at soldering doesnt seem to work aswell as inteneded lol. I'm thinking it has to be the module since I had everything hooked up correctly.

NOW HERE IS THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION!

Does the WP module, Voltage regulator and ignition all go to the silver side of the circut breaker then a wire from the positive side of battery go to gold side of circut breaker?

First, remove circuit breaker from scooter.
Second, place on hard surface.
Third, smash circuit breaker with large hammer.
Fourth, place remnants of circuit breaker in trash receptacle and rejoice in the knowledge that it will never fail and/or fry any of your remaining electronics.

I am not saying that your particular circuit breaker has failed and then when your voltage regulator also failed, it fried something, but if it did, it would not be the first time. search for voltage regulators or circuit breakers.

After you replace the circuit breaker with a 30 amp fuse holder.......
Always connect anything that requires voltage to the battery side of the 30 amp fuse (or to the battery itself).

NEVER connect anything to the voltage regulator side of the fuse. When your voltage regulator goes bad this side of the fuse can see up to 40 volts and most 12 volt electronics are only safe up to about 20 volts.
Notice I said WHEN your voltage regulator goes bad, it will happen if you ride it long enough (and this is a part not made by Bigdog search for voltage regulator to see options on replacing it when it goes bad).

My WP is working fine even riding in torential rain and washing the bike with a hose.

That said in the pic you posted of the conector i see blue wires not going to blue wires.
All my wires went to the same coloured wires opposite in the connector.

We used a secondry power scourse to test all conections prior to conecting to the bike battery.
As for Bearmans surgestion of throwing the curcuit braker away, though i do not agree, ensure you have spare fuses taped somewhere to your bike.

Yeah, I fixed all that stuff.. had it running and everything operating then the module blew up lol, so once i get all my parts that I need im gonna take it to the shop before I leave town for a while. and hopfully they will be able to do something with it!

what ever happened? I have an 06 K9 that I installed a wire-plus from Jake on in the winter of 2011.I purchased the kit sometime earlier that year.Bike ran great for 10-15 tanks of gas then suddenly shut down at 50 mph., after riding all day. Couldn't get restarted so towed it home.Next day tried to start but it would only crank and smelled of gas. Pulled plugs and checked for spark but nothing. This happened last fall and bike sat in garage on tender as I was busy with work. Today I wanted to get it running,so Ipulled plugs, turn key, speedo sweeps, and the module with two connector starts sizzling and smoking real bad instantly. It took a few seconds to shut the key off because I was watching the speedo sweep.Smelt smoke and tuned around to a big cloud of smoke and shut key off.Never got a chance to hit start. After the smoke cleared module was sizzling and leaking out oil like hot grease.Battery checked out to 12-13 volts and was purchased last September.I'll get it load tested. All wires and connections look good that I can see and hate to have to cut up all my heat shrink and electric tape to check every inch of wire. The only thing that has changed since I checked for spark last year is battery life.Module is probably shot.If the battery checks out OK what should I check next before installing a new module if this one is junk? Thanks in advance for the advise from this experienced forum.

Good luck with your bike and if you don't mind how long did it take to get the wire plus and also how long did it take to install it .
