Wire Plus

Ordered my wire plus yesterday can't wait to get this piece of shit EHC out of my bike.

Yeah...waiting on mine to come in the mail.
Just curious about something. Did your EHC fail or are you doing preventative maintenance? The reason I ask is that you have an '08 like me. I was picking up my K9 yesterday and the mechanic was installing the Wires Plus EHC replacement on an '07 BD street cruiser model and during the conversation I asked him if I should install the Wires Plus fix to head off any potential problem with the factory BD unit? He advised me that his experience with the Big Dog EHC is that the '06 and '07 models are mostly the years with the EHC problems and he has not noted problems with '08 & '09 models. But he's just one BD mechanic and his '08 & '09 customers' bikes may have dodged the bullet for the time-being.

Wire Plus Install

Hi, About a week ago there was a detailed page on how to install the wire
plus on a Big Dog EHC on this site. I sent the page to my email so it would be easy to find, Now
when I open it up it tells me access denied. There was a key install that does the same thing. What do i have to do to view these pages? Do I have to send money? If so how much? Can someone please help me!!!

I was just wandering with the instructions with the wire plus are they all you'll need by themselves with out the ones on this form to do the job. I hope they tell you what all you'll need to do the job also.

Not sure if you ran across this yet, but I'm guessing this is what you were looking for. Check the link below, Jake explains it all in there. Hope that helps.

OK stupid question , would the wire plus be of benefit on an 09 or is it for bikes with a carburetor . I gotta say this EHC ECU stuff has me confused.

No question is stupid to ask...it's only stupid if you don't ask.

Don't bother with the Wire+ unless you're experiencing problems. Keep the electronics and bar switches dry.

The Wire+ is an EHC replacement for both carb and EFI bikes.

EHC (electronic harness controller) Controls handlebar buttons, lights, idiot lights etc..

I just had the first EHC hiccup while riding my bike in Houston. The bike would not turn off when using the off button on the bars. Also when starting the starter would stay engaged while the engine was running. Once cooled down it started working again. If it ain't one thing it's another!

Guess it was bound to happen, I thought somehow I got skipped. Riding home from work I start to see smoke coming from under seat and the unmistakable smell of burnt rubber and plastic filling my nose. The pup dies, and I begin pulling wires from the battery terminal. Long story short the bike was loaded up and trailered to John Millar at Millar Machine, Orchid, Tx. A solid 1hour 45min trip on 59S. I explained that I just finished a 82 day turnaround working 7/12 and was looking to do some serioius riding. I realize there are only a few mechanics that are allowed to touch your ride, I trust John Millar with any aspect of repairing, changing out and impoving the performance of my bike. See ya next set of off days to pick her up John.
