Just installed my Wire plus and new Ignition switch this weekend....takes a little time but easy to do...I love the new start switch..You just push the start button and it activates the compression release and starts it all at once...A big thanks to Jake...any question he answered ASAP even on the weekend.

I AGREE !

Just finished mine as well (2004 Ridgeback).

Had a few small issues:angry: but "JAKE" DEFINATELY is like having a Bike Mechanic that KNOWS A "BIGDOG" Bike like no one else at your disposal:2thumbs:.

Much easier than you would think. I for sure am not any type of Bike Mechanic, but tackled it and all is well. If you ever wanted the Piece of Mind and not worry about your EHC crapping out on you when you dont want any EHC issues. GO WITH THE WIRE-PLUS:up:

Definately cheaper than keep installing NEW EHC's. Again, JAKE is the Man when it comes to standing behind the Wire-Plus upgrade and getting back to you with any issues you may have. E-Mail him or call, he will be there for you.

Congrats. How bout an under the seat pic?
I'm with Slider on that! Let's take a look at the finished job! How long did it take from start to finish and what did you have to purchase other than what WP shipped, e.g. shrink wrap, ground battery connector large enough for all the ground wires, etc?

Also, what tools does it take? I see where the "How To" shows the tank needs to be removed as well as the battery covers/cowlings (did everyone have to do that), you need a solder gun/solder, crimping pliers).

Mine just came in and I'm about to tackle this. Just trying to make sure I have all I need.

You need:
Solder gun, solder, Heat gun (hair dryer could work), shrink tubing, ground wire connectors, extra 12g wire for all the ground wires you put together, Klein tool crimper (dont skimp here, these make all the diff in world for crimping) Klein Tools Crimping/Cutting Tool Non-Insulated/Insulated - 1005 at The Home Depot
I used some electrical tape in spots, I also used a magnafine glass to see them little tiny #'s on the stock connector ends. I think I covered it all.

I did remove the battery covers and tank (I put die electric grease in all my fitting under the tank and shrink tubed them). Hind sight, I would have taken the whole harness out and wired it outside the bike. And I'd of bought the 3 pin connector from Jake and put that in between the coil and battery.

Hope that helps.

I will get some pics...looks a lot differant than the ones I have seen..I did like Jake and hid everything. I sorta built a fuse block 4 fuses. 3 fuses that the kit needs and I added a 4th for my lizard lights, hard wired my battery tender and since I have a mini air horn it needed a relay..I only have 2 wires to positive and negative battery posts..looks clean..Pics soon.
As far as time, just getting it wired and running will take about 2-3 hours, not including the ignition switch..from start to finish including wiring in horn, lizard lights, and battery tender and hiding everything around 6 hours total..

pics soon

If you have a harbor frieght by you, they have a great assortment of precut heat shrink in a plastic organizer for about $6. Perfect for what were doing.

Plus a good light to stand over the bike is helpful.

That looks really good! Thanks for the advice. It looks like I am going to have to do the same thing.

Ordered my wire-plus a month ago for my 2007 K-9. Let it sit in the box while I drank an cursed the thought of screwing something up. Finally got out their and did it. Took about 5 hrs.
Damn bike has NEVER run this good before. Speedo now works. Thank you Jake. Big dog can suck my limp dick. local big dog service center wants info on wire-plus.

5 Hours to install that's good new. Get mine tomorrow. Curious with all this talk of it running better. Does the EHC put restrictions on how these bikes perform?
