In reading a lot of the threads on here someone I believe made a video or dvd of the wires plus install that i would very much like to get a copy of before starting my install if anyone has already done the install and could get me a copy for myself message me and i would be glad to incur the cost of making and sending the item. Not sure if you are referring to this one? (see below)
IMHO the video is helpful, but I mounted mine so you can see the LED's and numbered all my wires before cutting them! You can get the small number sticker kit from the electrical department at Lowe's or similar store...

Thanks Fat Bastard for the quick response, and yea I think this will help loads. When I talked to them at wires plus they said they are working on a dvd right now for installation purposes and hope to have it out early next year. Thanks again.

Its not that hard of an install, just time consuming. Read over the instructions a few times while looking at all the parts and it will start to make sense. There are a lot of black ground wires that end up being bundled so you don't have as many wires as first appears. Take your time. Double, Triple check EACH connection before doing the next and you should be on the road in no time. "We don't need no stinkin' video!!!" :lol:

Another wierd thing about that video is -- it only has 1:26 (min:sec) that are useful; rest is black out...

For the "first timer" this video at least gives you a clue as to what it will look like at various steps from a bigger picture. Now you have something to watch while you wait months for your WP Kit to arrive!

Hey 8Ball. Last time I heard from you, you were going under the knife? I hope all went well for ya. Geneva on the lake is this weekend. You plan on heading up there? Hope the WP could wait till after the trip. Also I put one in my 04 Chopper. Like everyone say's on here its not bad. Just be very careful which wires you cut. Check and double check before cutting. If you need any info maybe I can help. Just let me know.

well the surgery went well and I am recovering great but the doc said to forego riding this season so I can ride the rest of my life so I'm doing some things to the dog that I've been putting off so next year I can even ride in my sleep, by the way thanks for asking. I figure this should go smooth because I'm not rushed at all to get it done got all winter too.:up:

Great news!! Speaking from experience, working on the ride will be good therapy after surgery. Just take it slow.

yea Awg I've put this off way too long. That garage is like my Oasis, get to clear the head out there, my Mom always said she was suprised I didn't come out with a wrench in my hand and oil all over me instead of blood. Always made me smile, miss her. Good therapy for sure.

Started install

Well you all were right it seems to be an easier task than I assumed. Taking all the grounds out first and eliminating them from the area waS GOOD ADVICE. oPTED TO SOLDER INSTEAD OF BUYING THE 280.00$ CRIMPER AND THE PINS ARE REALLY STRONG that way. Something I did was strip just a little extr( maybe an 1/8 ) for easier soldering and then covered the exposed wire with liquid tape that you can get at lowes or Home Depot made it a breeze. Just have a few more to cut from the plug and move then the ign. switch. Thinking about repositioning it under the seat. Thanks all for the advice given.:up:

Down to just wiring the ignition switch. I'm going to try to show some pictures of the switch install into the old hole if I can figure it out, I had a buddy of mine, a machinist put it on his cnc and machine out the material to allow the sportster switch and not ruin the looks of the cover. Basically we dropped the center line of the hole one hundred thousandth's and bored 20 thousandth's over the first round land on the switch so that it recessed into the cover that amount for stabilization of the switch. Then bored from the front to the original depth, 25 thousandth's over the outside diameter of the retaining nut of the new switch for a little clearance. It looks like it was made this way. I'll try to get the pictures on in the next three days.:2thumbs:

well WP install finished and the damn thing started on the first crank. Definitely a great product, now I just have to wrap up wiring and secure plugs.
