Wire Plus EHC

Energy One
I recently bought a ridgeback with a wire plus EHC kit installed and the owner told me that with this kit the neutral indicator light does not turn on and the high beam indicator light stays on. Does anyone know if this is true or was it wired wrong?

Does the bulb change between Hi and Lo when you toggle the switch? If not try changing the bulb. Check the Neutral switch connection down at the transmission and make sure it's seated properly, if it is you probably have short and will need to trace it. If I remember correctly, the neutral switch/light/wiriing is not even wired into the WP unit.

I say also to check the wiring again. My 04 neutral light and highbeam light work like they are supposed to. My guess would be its grounding out or possible came out of the harness causing the lights not work properly. If he provided the wire plus diagram you can trace the wires back to the connectors. I have the directions that came with my wire plus. If you need a copy I can make a copy and send it to you.

A 2004 with a wire plus module in it should work just like the stock indicators did with the EHC.

It was either wired wrong or water has corroded the Tach Ring to the point that they are not working as they should.

I had this problem with a WP I did on an 05 chopper. I was never able to trace the source of the problem. No grounded or crossed wires, new tach ring didn't fix it. Owner eventually sold the bike so it's out of my hair.

One wiring area I have always wondered about was on the LED indicators for the Hi-beam, Neutral, Oil, Temp(EFI) and L/R Turns. Were those EHC powered by +5v signal (YES I believe) and is WIRE+ driving them with +5v or (+12v (with or w/o additional current limiting resistance))?

If the LEDs are very bright using the Wire+ then they could be driving them with +12v and will eventually cause them to burn out.

If the LEDs are at normal brightness using a Wire+ then all is okay.

The Very early Big Dog Wire-Plus modules defaulted to High beam at all times after start up unless you switched it to low, but at that time the high beam indicator went off.

Don't let anybody scare you about your bike. If its running fine don't sweat it. They just want you to buy their crap.

Keep the smart ass remarks to yourself...not trying to sell a single thing, just explaining just like the other 99% on here would have! :job::job::job:

Blow me Jake. If you weren't trying to pawn your gear you probly wouldn't even be here. The guy is brand new and your already talking your smack about his bike. He asked what it was not what your opinion was.

X4 on the avatar!

On the other subject, everyone is allowed to have an opinion. In my opinion, no one is selling "their crap" here and only offering knowledge, opinions, experience and products to help us. I also think somebody needs a hug!

I appreciate Nick asking a question and no question is too stupid. I also appreciate others opinions. Weeding through responses is part of the research needed to make a personal choice and learn about their bikes.

So, there's my opinion,

Huw

I also hope my EHC doesn't fail but have WP sitting on the self in case!
