Winter Project - Raking out my neck and new front end...

I went 45* and added 7" to the backbone, we also raise the neck up 1" for a lower front end without sacrificing suspension travel.

Nice work....the older pro streets needed stretched badly. At 5'9 I wasn't happy with my 05 Mastiff.

Damn Steve! That's perfect, I had an idea in my head that they coud look better and you did it exactly the way it should have been done. Now jig it up and start marketing those frames. Incredible job!

Well the welder is done with my frame, I went out to 46 degrees, but I've been waiting on parts. Today my bars finally came, and they were the wrong bars! So here are a few pics of what I've been doing in the mean time.

Black Mamba Front end, still not unpacked!

My long awaited bars from Redneck Eng, but they were wrong!

I'm going to try my hand at seat making, so I bought a piece of black vinyl stamped like ostrich, and I laid up a pan for a passenger pad. I figure if I fuck it up at least my girlfriend has to sit on it and not me!

The open primary was built by Southern Motorcycle Works in SC. They take an Ultima clutch basket and machine a custom motor plate and outer bearing support. They can also do any offset you'd like. American Suspension does offer raked trees for their springers but you need more neck rake to make the trail work. If you call them they can do the calc over the phone, but I believe you'd need over 42 degrees in the neck before you can consider raked trees with any springer.

So finally I've got all my shit back and I'm ready to get this thing back together. Because of a mis-communication between me and the welder, my frame came back trashed. Instead of just touching up the welded area, I now need to repaint the whole thing, but first I gotta fill in all the scratches and dings with bondo. Below are a few more pics:

Frame neck, now 46 degrees:

Whole frame, primer and bondo. The welder thought we were powdercoating the frame after he was done, so it looked like it took a tour of Iraq when we got it back.

My good buddy Jeff of NAMZ Custom Cycle, Frank, and Bobby, looking like a monkey fucking a football while we tried to figure out how to get my bars welded straight.

Bars welded up and attached to the top tree.

Moe did you take any frame measurements when it was stock like the bottom of neck to ground with frame sitting level so you can duplicate that same measurement to set front end length? How did you figure front end length? I know american suspension sends them about 4 over the calculated measurement. I'm thinking you have to be around 14 over?

My plan is to level the frame, and go from there. Measuring at the stock neck did us no good because we didn't know where it would end up once we raked it further. Front end was calculated by American as 19" over, but again I won't know for sure until I get the rear end on and level everything.
