I have an 03 with the stock 107 that dyno at 110hp with 108lb of torque. It has a g carb not sure what cam I believe it is a 600. d&m air cleaner with big radius pipes. I have been told that a xxx carb would give me around 10 more hp or should I be happy with what I got. THanks for any input

Hell no you shouldn't be happy with what you have. If you want to keep up this summer, you better start thinking triple x and I'm talking about the carb! Just screwing with you brother, I'm sure others here will give you some good advice!

I'm thinking you are pretty good where you are. I have the same 107ci and
.600 cam with Hooker Fourbidden pipes. I'm pushing 109.2 HP and 120lbs tourque with the XXX that has the booster tube and bored venturi. I have a stutter at 0 to hard acceleration and hard throttle at any speed. It stutters for a second then kicks in. I can't seem to adjust the stutter from idle to hammer or from cruising speed to hammer out of it. Once it catches up it goes like a bat out of hell but I didn't need any additional performance over 100 MPH, I already had good off the line performance and I lost it with the full mod XXX. I've had speculation it could be pipe inversion, altitude, blah blah blah but know one seems to know the real answer. I think I may have just created too much carb for a basically stock engine. The truth is I'm not sure and neither is anybody else. I'm open to suggestions though!

What about going up on the int jet?

Did you check the nozzle? Run the shim thru it to make sure its clear? Check the accel pump diaphram on the bottom of the carb?

At first I thought what you thought, I even sent it back to Bob for another look. He found a pin hole in the diaphram and replaced it and sent it back. I've put in so many hours at work that any time on the bike has ben good time, even if I lost my bottom end punch so I just kinda let it go but it's spring time real soon. I was able to pull off a 42 foot solid black and fade to gray after burn out at work a few weeks ago but it bogged a bit and I know that's not right since it never bogged before. Top end is tits, off the line aint what she used to be.

I agree that your carb may be a little overkill. That would sure kill your bottom end. An accelerator pump should be a stutter not a fall on it's face deal.

Pig Pen I have the same bike with the XXX and love it. I have a set of Yaffe Phantoms and the stock air cleaner withthe larger filter. The bike runs great with no hesitation and the gas mileage was much improved.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm still on the fence. I think i'll wait for Doug G to gets his back then I can see and feel the differance.

I'm going out on a limb here but I don't think you should get one - I have one and it works good but I wouldn't call it immense by any stretch - the other thing is that every man and his dog has one - its a bit like the big rads - IMO you should go for something different

I hear ya. when I bought my pipes nobody had them and now everyone does. I'll most likely put the money from the carb towards a set of new pipes

I guess the difference is the pipes are there for all to see and are a big feature of the bike whereas the carb isn't - but you where I'm coming from - have you considered a Mikuni? the PSI is an obvious choice too but expensive
