Seen this on my Pitbull. Thought I would post a picture and hopefully get answers why this plug looks like it does.

Looks like the stator was replaced and the person had trouble getting the plug installed correctly so they resorted to using silicone to seal it.
There are 2 different size/shape plugs, its possible they got the wrong one and didn't force it to fit (which it will I believe).
Next time you do a primary fluid changed I'd take a close look at the inside of that plug to make sure there is no chance of a short.

What I have found on my bike is that the rubber has become soft and mushy. Probably from the constant exposer to oil and heat. The only real fix is to dig in and change the stator. It is on my winter to do list.

Other than looking funky.....it should still work? Don't understand the part that sticks out. Is that part of the stator? Should that be inside more?

1. The piggybacking of it looks dry. Leave it alone.
2. Checking the charging system at the battery posts at idle says 14v+... Leave it alone.
3. You'd probably would have lost the battery by now while riding it, starting it, etc., so my guess is nothing is wrong with the stator, why fuck with it.

Just for the hell of it do a search for the regulator and stator for your year bike and it will give you an idea what they are supposed to look like

The large unmolested part is the connector end of the voltage regulator wires. It would normally plug into the stator plug that would be pushed through the engine block.
