There are a lot of options out there for motorcycles... customized Harleys, other small volume manufacturers like AIH and Vengeance. What made you go with Big Dog?

Styling and value and sure some that will come to mind.
Why spend 10g more for an AIH and get that hideous gas tank and a smaller rear tire. I had over 24 in my HD and have only a fraction of the bike that the 'Dog offers.
You will hear guys bitch about recalls and other issues about these bikes but be REAL, they all have problems. One of the keys to any bike is to really investigate the dealer and get one that gives a shit. It is the service after the fact that will make the difference not the bullshit salesperson.
As far as BD from the factory standpoint. All I can say is that they have been great to me. I had a paint "issue" and they took care of it right away.

I have been looking at choppers for over a year before I bought my 06 Big Dog K-9. When I sat on the AIH bikes...it seemed like you had to reach for the bars. I chose Big Dog because of like Thumper said....style and value. I think these bikes are sweet looking with more fit to finish. When I bought my K-9 from Full Throttle Motorsporst in Lansing,MI. ...they are just about 2 hours from me and they delivered it in a full enclosed trailer....no charge. They put on the Big Radius pipes for me and dyno tuned bike before delivery. I only have 240 miles on it so far...but I have had alot of compliments and looks and thumbs up! can't wait til summer...

For me it was the looks. And the features offered at the price.

I looked at about 10 different brands at AMC. Everything from Bourget, Swift, BD, and a many others. The BD had many other small things that I noticed as well.

Everything from the LED lights, hidding features, comfortable riding position, nicer looking bolt ons. Alot of the other brands look like you could have built them out of a J&P cycle catalog.

Loved their paint options, and in early '05 they were one of the few with the Baker 6 speed right hand drive. I looked at Swift, BMC, AIH and a few others, but nothing compared to Big Dogs looks and quality for the price.

Looks, styling, fit and finish and price

Compared to alot of other "factory choppers" BDM does a really nice job.

I bought my first one in April of 03. I had been looking at some other brands like Swift and another called Red Horse. But then I saw an add for Big Dog in a magazine and it was a rear view shot of 3 Big Dogs. With those three fat tires side by side I was smitten!
So, Swift is doing okay but hardly a large company and Red Horse is mostly on the East Coast from what I hear and hardly heard of out West and Big Dog is #1 ranked by all dealers as best supporting company. :2thumbs:
I made the right choice.
O yeah, they look great too!:whoop:

I think you can see that POV in their product quality and attention to detail as we all have already mentioned. Ya know..

Couldn't let Ray have all the fun....:D

Seriously, my neighboor owned the bike when it was black and from the moment I saw it, I knew it was for me and I would have one. When he decided to sell the bike while I was deployed, she bought it for me and the rest is history. :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

Looked at every bike out there and thought about having one build by a builder out in Washington DC but then I saw a Big Dog I was hooked. Wanted to wait to get a 2006 with the 300 tire but the price was right and had the green light so I took a ride on it for 3 miles and that was it. Grinned all the way home!

And 17,000 miles of rain, sleet, snow, and awesome sunshine weather I am still grinning ear to ear.

It started with a business trip to Wichita, with a HD friend - walking through the airport we saw a Ridgeback on display - great looking bike - there was a sign saying factory tours were available - the tour sounded better than work, so off we went one afternoon. During the tour we were impressed with the pride and dedication of their employees, their manufacturing processes, the great graphics department, and their drive to continuously improve the product. Walking across the street into the distribution warehouse and seeing 400-500 Big Dogs, any one of which you could ride with pride, was the defining moment. Three days later, my buddy had traded his Dyna in on a Ridgeback.

For me, it took a little longer - about two years to get finances and family realigned. During that time I looked at a lot of other bikes, from ricers to Harleys, AIH to Saxon, BMC, Victory - anything I could find. I never saw one that brought it all together in style and value like BD. Frankly, there were very few other bikes - particularly the Harley line - that I even felt inspired to own.

In the end, it was probably the graphics that got me, all other things being equal. On another lone business trip to Wichita, dragging through the airport after an ugly night of flight delays and bad weather, I wondered which Big Dog they would have on display to cheer me up a bit. When I turned the corner and saw their 20,000th bike, the K-9 in full flag paint, that was it - had to have one.

That's an awesome story. I wonder how many bikes they have sold due to that airport display.

I remember seeing a lot of AIM bikes in the Dallas airport. They do look good and turn a lot of heads. With all the TV shows promoting motorcycles I'm sure the displays are driving some sales.

I asked the floor manager at the factory in Wichita - he just smiled, and said "a few." Wichita isn't the biggest airport hub in the world, so not a lot of people see it. I wonder what the response would be if they had a display in, say, DFW or LAX.

I can't add anything to what's already been said so I will just say that I am extremely happy with my choice. both from a bike standpoint and BD service as well. The best purchase I ever made.:)
