First, you would be surprised how many companies have their gas delivered from the same company. There are only a few that actually manufacture their own gas and no one else can sell. The only real big difference in all of this is, first, you need the highest octane to get the cleanest and best performance. Second, NO ETHANOL. Since I went to the gas I am having delivered now, 98% octane and no ethanol the gas mileage has increased by at least 1/3 more and the performance of all my vehicles is incredible. The old saying, you get what you pay for, really applies here.

I filled up my truck at lunch at a texaco station today and was looking at the ethanol sticker and it says "may contain 10% ethanol".
by volume, I wonder how much ethanol is really in most pump gas.

So here is my concern. I went to the gas station listed on the link provided that serves Ethanol free gas, but it looks like only the Premium is Ethanol free. This makes me think that maybe the advertisement isn't true. So, I loaded up the Harley (Lab Rat) with the go-go juice. I've been running it for the past week and have noticed that there's no pinging when the scoot runs hot like most do when on Ethanol. Is there a way to test gas for Ethanol? Any chemist here that can give me a pointer on how I can do this without spending big bucks to send out a sample to a lab? Was just wondering... :D

I have put an app on my I phone called Pure-Gas (Pure-gas.org) this app gives you all the gas stations in the U.S. and Canada that carry ethanol free gas. I have found this very helpful in my travels. I only feed my Dog ethanol free fuel. As my mechanic told me ethanol is his best friend.

That's actually the site I was referring to when I mentioned the link on here. My concern is that all the gas sold at the station listed isn't ethanol free. I'm wondering if this isn't just an advertisement gimmick. I put nothing but 92 % Octane in the scoots, but ethanol free would be great, if it's true...

I understand. It appears that this is a web-site that uses a lot of input from the general public and Im sure you are going to get some information that is questionable. I have found that this is the best I can find when it comes to trying to find ethanol free fuel for my scoot.

I must say that I am bias to Shell gas and use the highest octane I can get in my Big Dog as well as the Z06 & my BMW's. I have worked for Shell for 30+ years so far and its hard to buy anything else when I get free Shell gas.

I usually run 93 octane from quicktrip. Unfortunately there are no ethanol free stations within a hundred miles of me.

93 from whoever is the cheapest. All gas comes down the pipeline the same, each company has their additives added in at the delivery point before sending the gas to the gas stations. I worked for 5 years for the largest petroleum pipeline from Texas to NJ. (Colonial Pipeline). Good peeps

I started using Lucas Ethanol treatment in all my vehicles with fill ups. My K-9when I can. ( I don't carry the bottle with me at all times on the K-9. :bang::lol:)

I just loaded the Pure Gas apps to my I phone. Thanks

If not to inconvienent, I'll use the Ethanol free stations. :2thumbs:

After helping run a Motorsports dealership I learned alot about fuels and additives. I don't know a whole lot but what I do know I will pass on in hopes of helping anyone who could learn from my past. It isn't so bad to run fuel with ethanol IF you're on a long trip out on the motorway without other fuel options and gonna burn right thru the whole tank, but drain out any leftover unused fuel ASAP. The ethanol additive can separate in as little a 16 hrs depending on storage temp. That's why I cut my chopper fuel line and installed an inline clear fuel filter with tool-less finger screw hose clamps. Plus if a buddy runs out, it sure is a better alternative quick fix than having to push, tow or jockey fuel.

If you leave any in the tank and let your bike sit even for a short period of time, you will face suffering consequences. Even if you previously added an ethanol enzyme inhibitor. And for sure look for individual separated octane hoses at the pump. Av Gas is ideal but hard to come by & not everyone can acquire, so the highest octane with a bottle of octane booster if needed seems always a good choice. These 2 pics are of my nephews brand new 4-wheeler carb that was on it's 3rd tank of ethanol fuel & this is what ethanol will do to your carb after sitting for a couple weeks. A hard lesson learned when it was time to ride & he went to get on it. Do not run ethanol in any power equipment or any small engines that may sit for even short periods of time.

Ethyl Alcohol

Fuels offered now are mixed with alcohol at the distribution station where a trucker loads his tanker trailer. Depending on the research octane value the fuel is all mixed with additives, primarily alcohol. This has been directed by the Fed to bolster the farmers of our country directly as a result of the lobbyists employed by the farmers themselves. The sad truth is that more oil is expended to produce the alcohol substitute than is saved by displacing the 15% of oil saved by the addition of alcohol. Also alcohol, #1. destroys any rubber or brass in the fuel system, and #2. by volume alcohol produces only 60% to 65% of the BTU`s that fossil fuel (gas) does. Now that`s really saving the planet! Money talks; the rest of us pay out of the ass! The best counter I have found is Amsoil`s Quick-Shot fuel additive to cancel the negative effects of alcohol. It stops phase separation and even boosts octane slightly. Oh, by the way, alcohol and water are soluable - they readily mix and are heavier than oil/gasoline! That would cause the fuel to drain from the tank of our Big Dogs drawing that krap first before the gasoline that we think we are running through our choppers. Food for thought.

Mostly use Mobil 93 octane and Mobil One Oil... But, If I'm out and about and running low... I try to find 93 or 94 octane first but will use others if it becomes necessary....
