Did you or are you going to soak those clutch plates with oil before you button it up?
Didn't soak them seeing as they are not new, but I did give each plate a good coating front and back with the Spectro primary oil.

Hey guys so whats the thought on the main shaft bolt. I know the manual says 80 ft lbs, but I heard go 150 then back it off and go 110 with a few drops of red loctite, or just stick at 150? Just want to make sure I'm ready when the nut arrives.

A few drops? hell no, mine was bleeding red loctite, shaft and new nut, and I would not go anything less than 125#, though I went to 150# also. I got tired of it coming loose, when I had to change out the clutch basket and carrier last year it took a little while with the impact wrench hammering it for it to come loose.

I wasn't gonna say it but yea I used a little extra red.

How the hell do you get it torqued to 150, I got to 110 and it feels like by drive belt is stretching out? Got it in gear with the rear tire down and hitting the brake

You need a locking tool! Shouldn't be in gear] !!!

Some have used a couple blocks of wood stacked up like the tool, I tried that but split the wood. Need really hard stuff

it's an over priced piece of delrin but you need it.
Live and learn. Like I said, first time taking the primary apart, thought I could get away without it.Built cars from ground up buy never had to mess with my bikes much. I'll be ordering one tonight for sure.

Get a peice of 1/4x 2 steel flat bar and cut to length. Round the edge over with a grinder and you have a 2 dollar tool that works and will last.

I used an impact wrench and after using it many times on car lug nuts and then checking with my torque wrench, I have a really good feel on how many bangs @ 100psi will get me in the different torque ranges, sounds like bull shit but I can hit it within 5-10# of what I'm looking for in the range of 100-150.:old2::whoop:

That's some talet! I ended up getting 110, then hit it with an impact and got a touch more out of it. I'm good for now I think but I'll Stull order the tool and double check in a week or 2. Only problem so far is the big clunk going into first and not finding neutral unless I blip the thottle. But it's been like that since I bought it, gonna try a few different clutch adjustments to see if I can get it a little better.

But she's back together and took it for a shake down ride, no leaks and shifts good. I'll take it to work tomorrow and mess a little more this weekend.

Again thanks for all the help guys!!!

When I adjusted my clutch I only backed off about 1/16 of a turn. I ran the rod in and out a few times to get a good feel on the throw out bearing and then I marked a piece of tape where the alan wrench was so I didn't move it when I locked the nut down. And then adjust the cable.:old2:

Well I dropped the idle a little so it's just hitting the second light and seems a little better, but I'll Still play with adjustments some more. Took it out on another quick ride after checking for leaks, and man she feels good. My primary chain was extremely loose to begin with and don't know if that's what's making the big difference but it just feels smoother taking off, cruising, and on deceleration. Maybe it's in my mind but it feels better then it ever has. I'm loveing it!!! And she was down less than a week, can't beat that!!!
