Ok, I know about and have used Dyna Beads in the past and will be putting them in the current new tire, but I was wondering since II discovered that the last tire change even though I requested the beads be transfered that there were no beads when the tire was changed last week.

This got me to looking for other alternatives and dealers (local) for dyna beads or others.

During the process I found www.centramatic.com and their permenant balancing system for motorcycles. It mounts a unit behind the rotor that has an active balancing system in it. Now these are more money then the dyna beads but they are install and forget about them and not likely to be "lost" during a tire replacement.

So my question to the forum is has anyone ever tired these and if so what do you think?

I had four new tires installed on my Tahoe today. I asked them to install beads instead of wheel weights. They told me they could not do it. I asked why not? You install them in large truck tires. They said the Tahoe tires were too small. When I told them I had beads in my motorcycle tires they said it was not possible and would not work.WTF?

They are stuck in the past. That's how the beads stArted for large Truck tires, 18 wheelers originally. I've had them for 8 years in my dodge tho. Never out of balance

These guys dont understand that centrifugal force is applied across all mediums regardless of size?

I wouldn't put a centramatic on a bike. I had them on my Dodge truck for years and you could see them through the rims. After they stopped working I went to Walmart BBs and then Dynabeads. Works great for my truck.

I just ordered 2oz of ceramic beads for my new back tire; a whopping $6 shipped.
I used ceramic/Dyna beads when I put new tires on the motorhome last year (225/70R19.5) and they ride great.

The use of beads in an application is "an assumption" and here is why. Beads are calculated based upon the tire. The bigger the tire the more beads. I have dealt with beads as well as dynamic balance and bubble balance as well. My motorcoach, my race cars, the bike. I have had a few sets of tires on my motorcoach (295 80 22.5)and usually use the bead method. The last set of tires I had purchased where so close in the balance, that by adding the recommended amount of beads actually threw it off. no less than 6 miles on the new rubber and I knew something wasn't right. Turned around and went back, and I told them to bust the fronts down and get the beads out, and dynamically balance them. they had the equipment to do so, and I opted for the beads rather than dynamic (cleaner look). After getting the beads out (equal) they only required a few ounces of stick on weights. The coach drove beautifully with it dynamically balanced.

The race cars. 32 years of racing and the best way to balance is to bubble. The bubble balance is the smoothest ride and we monitor time slips within .003 to .007 as well as mph to 0.25-0.45 at speeds nearing 200mph. Dynamic balancing a drag cars tires is a disaster.

The only suggestion that I guess I would have, is to see what your up against first, and that means to spin the back tire and see whats going on first before you throw beads into it.

Bubble balancing when done correctly can't be beat, I have been bubble balancing my tires since the early 70's and I still have the same balancer. I have added a few adapters over the years for 4,5 and 6 lug wheels with a small center opening.
I have had several people come back and tell me they had their front end aligned after I installed their tires and when the shop found out I bubble balanced the tires, they laughed and put the tires on their new spin balancer to show them how bad bubble balancing was:oldlaugh: guess who was eating crow, they couldn't get it any better than what I had done.
Old school baby, can't be beat when done properly.:old2:

Borrowed a set of rims and tires at an event in West Palm Beach Florida. Did this going into the 3rd day of racing out of 5 days. Shudder slightly up top with the borrowed rims/tires. Took them off and bubbled them, the bubble was not dead in the center, but favoring the outter line of the circle. First round, broke out. It picked up 1.25mph and .011 in et. I would have been dead on with the slight vibration up top. Nothing like the ride of a bubble that is dead in the center.

He didn't feel it in his dragster. His had suspension, mine was a hard tail triple slip. when I gave them back, I told him "I fixed your shit"

Yep, anything inside the circle is good, but nothing beats dead center on the cross hairs:old2:

Close is only good in horse shoes and grenades:oldhardlaugh:
