Wheel Recall Status?

How many still have not recieved their replacement wheel?

Am I the only one who has not! Any updates?

Have you checked with the dealer to see what is up with the status? I would imagine it would have to go through one of them to get it done.

If not mistaken this is only for the Ridgeback due to possible cracking along the spokes.

Yeah, they said they have not recieved one for a customer that ordered his a couple of months before me.

They are going to contact BDM.

what recall are you talking about? i have an 08 ridgeback. is this on the recall. i'm in the process of trying to get my passenger peg bracket replaced. talked to them last summer about the bracket. and they said it was fine. then just the other day seen another post about the recall.called again had to tell them to look up the part # to get it verified.thanks to the forum. my 11yr old son goes with me alot. please let me know if i need to get the wheels replaced. :confused::confused::confused:

Wow, I called back in August or september about this. I was told I would get a call in a few months when it came in... Guess I should be the one to follow up.

Just found out about the recall recently. Called the dealer to set it up. I was amazed. I was told, "I dont know if BDM is even replacing these wheels anymore, but I'll put in a order for you. Some have been waiting for 6 months." I hope they are taking care of this. Might be a little cheaper than lawsuits from people crashing with bad wheels. Maybe the guy was just having a bad day. I just cant see a major company saying Yeah this may cause a crash so good luck. Since I was late on the band wagon, I guess I will get my wheel in December.

My Dad got us on a "list' from the BDM guys in Raleigh NC.....he calls and they continue to tell him we are on the "list" and will be contacted when it arrives...??? I have yet to be given a date or my palce in the National line.....anyway to look into this....not sure whats going on in Raleigh....bike is with Bruce in Greensboro now...would have been nice to get this SB done while its in the shop....

I got lucky. I called the dealer and he said he happened to have one that he ordered for a guy that he could not get hold of. Been trying for a couple months. Took less than a week to get mine replaced. With the long wait lists, I would think it may be common that the shop cannot contact the customer after several months of waiting. Might be worth calling around to several dealers.

Should just give me the dollars they will have in the new wheel and I will buy my own set....of course they probably are getting the wheel dirt cheap.

Sam if your waiting on Hacienda to get it, forget it. BDM told me 3 months ago that Hacienda had been cutoff and would not be receiving any parts. Hacienda denies this but I waited months on a speedometer which I got in 1 week when I went to another dealer at BDM suggestion.

Dont remember if I have introduced myself before to follow protocol, I know I have sent email to people on the forum. I am a service writer for a BDM dealership and have 6 wheels for customers on backorder. BDM has assured us that everyone will receive wheels but it is going to take some time. As I understand it, there were close to 1500 bikes affected by this issue. Each of these wheels must be manufactured as they are not in warehouse status, hang in there, if you are very concerned take your bike to a BDM dealer have them inspect your wheel, if there are any apparent defects or cracks< BDM can expedite a wheel, if it is available.
