Can these be used with tubes? I don't think I've ever had a tire properly balanced with lead.

My weights flew off my rear long ago, I had like an 8" strip on there. They were so damn heavy when they flew off it hit my buddy's leg riding behind me and tore a hole in his jeans. I was considering getting the beads, but after 4k miles there is still no funny vibration or wear! Next tire change I'll probably go with the beads though, the damn weights are ugly.

Get the Primary Spousal Unit to do it? Geez, wish I had thought of that!! :bang:

Staffy: Another '07 niner here, haven't gotten to the point of needing new rubber yet, but the big problem up here is finding a shop with the right equipment.

For what it's worth, I added beads to my tires early on, just to fine tune the weights. BTW, Mo' better to do balance with as much rotating mass attached as possible in my opinion.

Also use'm in the Harleys and the F250 H-D pickup... Did back off on the 'Vette - the web site noted that with wide/flat profiles, sometimes the beads don't distribute evenly... This before I read Gas Man's thoughts on the sensors.

But they're definitely a Good Thing.

I may feel pretty close, but in short time you find some ugly cupping start to happen. If your tire is about shot, don't put them in now, but if you half or more tread left, put the beads in and get the life out of that tire.

Yeah tire press sensors... standard on the car. Even report to Onstar.

I'm under the understanding that there are 2 types of sensors. Beed around the rim sensor or a valve stem sensor. The beed style wouldn't be an issue, but the vlv stem style could clogg.

RFID started with the attempt to identify all the gear on a pallet or all the pallets on a ship.

It's called Radio Frequency Identification all done through bar code type labels that are scanned by radio frequency.
We are now using this in the Navy for Logistics.

Just another communication devise.
