When your on the throttle, pulling hard thru the gears, are your shift points made by feel, or a particular RPM point?

When the Yellow Tach Light comes on. Unless I am cruising, then it is between 3K and 2K RPM.

FYI, I'll take my Daytona 675 to over 10K RPM because the fun starts around 8K with a Red Line of 14K. My Bonneville has a redline of 7400K. Of course, the BD will vibrate at higher RPMs but it smooths out with some exercise!:D

Be sure to warm up the Dog first!

Just puttering around, shift between 2500 / 3000...romping down on it, I'll take it to 5000-6000...limiter kicks in at 6500...

Feel and sound also, usuually somewhere between 3500-4000 on the BD, on the Buell around 6000-6500 unless getting on it, the close to redline

When I was rejetting and romping thru the gears I tended to shift when the yellow light illuminated on the tach, which is 4500 RPM( to low ). The red light illuminates at 6000 RPM as the rev limiter starts to kick in( to high ), so somewhere in between is probably ideal to raise a little hell but not damage anything in the process. Looks like 5200- 5500 RPM is about the 1 O'clock position on the tach and seems about right but I dont know this to be true. Anybody think 5500 RPM is still to high?

I have the ajustable Thunder Heart and have the limiter set at 6200. I never take it that high, but I can :D I usually shift at 5800 to 6000. :2thumbs:
