Whats up with the kickstand of Big Dogs, I have an 06 the first one failed within 6 months down in laughlin. the second just failed last weekend and almost dropped the bike at the gas station, just broke in half

It does take a while to get used to the location. The exact design reasoning does not compute. It is too short, and quite far back. That's what makes this bike a custom.

Had mine warranty replaced at around 6k miles due to it wearing out and allowing it to come too far forward.
Next one will be the Arlen Ness model.

I have the Arlend Ness which is Adjustable and looks great too.

I had my 08 K9 for two years never had an issue thankfully!!!!! I hope you get that problem fixed!!!!!

I thought the kickstand and location of it was fine on earlier models. I have an 03 with the old style and it was never a problem. Some where along the way it was decided....re-locate and make it shorter. If possible just install the original....easier to kick down and it is sturdy.

Got an Arlen Ness kickstand from Bikers Dream...quality product, looks good and no spring !!

Yup, had a kickstand replaced on my 08 k9 under warranty. Almost dropped my bike.

I was wondering about this because I appears like my bike leans over a lot further than it originally did. When inspecting the kickstand, it seems it is worn and like someone else said, allows it to come too far forward, thus lowering the bike. It is starting to make me nervous.

I have a 04 Chopper, I put 03 Chopper foot controls so I could use the H-D Softail big twin kickstand. after riding H-D for many years I'm more comfortable with the forward
kickstand-besides Harley has been useing them since 1936. Must be doin something right.
I have a new dealer takeoff rear swingarm stand-if anyone needs a back up

I've been on the forum a couple of years now and don't recall this ever being an issue. Did I miss something? I do remember someone talking about the springless Arlen Ness, but have never read where someone's kickstand broke in half and caused the bike to fall. I have an '05 and it seems like that was the year of the gremlins. EHC's, TP rocker boxes, BD used another company that year to heat treat the transmission main shafts, ect. I've dealt with all that but never an issue with the kickstand. WTF! 
Wish my only issue was a kickstand, but maybe I'm one of the lucky ones.

do the arlen ness kickstands take any modifications to install? i see that their kick stands have three bolt holes in them.

Bolts right on and the length is adjustable
