Does anyone know why this would happen?

Thanks.

Check them to see if they are worn to where they have to much slop. Look at the inside of your caliper. That would be my guess as to where they are rubbing. The only other place would be the caliper bracket. I'd put her up in the air and check for wheel bearing slop and spin the wheel to see where it could rub under load.

My guess would be, the rear caliper bolts are rubbing a little.  But those reflectors might be doing it as well. :hi:  :hi:

Looks like at one time that you picked up something from the road and it got wrapped around your hub.

It's karma for leaving your reflectors on, no doubt. :) Seriously though, it shouldn't be too hard to spot where and how once you get it on a lift and take care of it. Good luck.

Another round please
Its the reflectors bending the sun rays and burning the metal exactly where your having a problem. Freaky. Remove reflectors and problem fixed.

Reflectors..    " not laughing at the reflectors... just the comments.."
Looks like a caliper bracket bolt might be too long..

well i might be laughing a little at the reflectors... :hi:

I can't tell from the pics., but there usually are chrome flat washers under caliper bolt heads. And that should allow enough bolt clearance behind the brake mount. Be careful not to move or remove any of the caliper "centering" washers if used.
Are the "Down Tube Stickers" still on? Might help if they were removed as well. :2thumbs:  :2thumbs: :hi:

I have a mark on one of my rivets like this one in your picture. It was from attempting to take off with the disc lock on!!! :spank:

yeah, that's how that mark got on there, but what about the rubbing around the rivet? so far it sounds like i have a caliper bolt rubbing. i will check this evening.

You might of picked up some sagebrush on the highway or whatever. I would check your brake caliper there and see if there is any interference but looks like it may have been something got stuck in there.

How loose is the rotor. I need to replace my rivets again as mine is VERY loose!

I was going to guess reflectors may be rubbing but looks like that dead horse has already been beaten

Seriously I beleve that if you jack it up and spin the wheel and see if it spins freely and the have someone barely push the brake lever and see what is happening as it rotates you should be able to figure it out but Ray's suggestion of you might have picked something up on the road is a strong possibility also. Hope you get it figured out.

Those Disc Rivets are aluminum and will probably light sand then/or just polish out. Floating Disc Rotors can be either a little tight or a little loose, depends on the spring washers. Front to rear play, some not too awfully much, is determined by Rivet "diameter" wear. I've found that the rear spring washers under the clips are different as well in material strength and thickness of the bend. And the clips themselves can be a Bi*CH to reinstall at times. But we have faith in you!...Long as you also remove the down tube stickers and reflectors! LOL!! Just Kidding, But you can do it, it's pretty easy. Just be patient if the clips try to fight with you.

(EDIT) Another thought, but it would have to be pretty extreme though. Has the rear tire been removed lately? If so, check alignment, I'd bet it's off.

I meant ON, bigger ones too! j/k. But really though, i would have never even thought about the reflectors being off or on if you i didn't catch any sh!t for having them on. I guess you learn something new everyday.

Seriously the reflectors are important for the nightriders .The way people drive, sometimes as i ride at night i wish i had mine on especially on the highways and interstates.Hope the rotor was just something that got caught up in there and your problems are not contuinous....:2thumbs:
