Whats the trick to reinstalling the gas tank on my 08 K9???

So I pulled the tank off to replace the headlight and speedometer on my 08 K9 and I can not for the life of me get the tank anywhere near where it needs to be. Pulling it off was a bit of a pain but I got it out pretty easily. It seems that no matter how I put it on Im an inch or two away from getting it to go over the rubber mounts in the front. Already put a couple nice chips in the tank even with a towel around the speedoneter and its mount :angry: so that will be going in for paint when I get it back together. Anyway I assume I have to be doing something wrong since I cant get it to go over the front mount :bang: Any help would be greatly appreciated since ive already looked at the how-to

Take the bracket off with the rubber bushings on it slide tank into position then bolt the bracket back on.

well hell not sure why I didnt think of that. Guessing that probably would have saved me the chips that are now on my gas tank. Thank you sir. Ive got to head to work but Ill give that a whirl tomorrow :up:
